Those numbers could mean trouble, or it could mean the staff is cleaning house in preparation of upgrading talent.

Though I'm sure you'll lose some good ones like everyone does these days, look at your results last year. There are not 46 players on the team capable of getting a big NIL check.

Guaranteed he was tampered which drives me crazy.

I’m frustrated right there with you, but I think the “agent” shopped around for him. The agent only cares about getting their portion of the NIL, which is crazy to me. I’ve seen 20% for some “agents.”  It’s ridiculous, man.

The system is broken. The House settlement will not fix it. I have really complicated feelings about all of it.
The only way you can really care about UNT football anymore without getting emotionally devastated is just to not pay attention until the guys report in the summer. Then learn the new roster. Root for them all season and hope they reward you by remaining on the team through the bowl game (that is an another issue). Once that is done, turn off your attention until the next season starts.
It sucks because I used to follow recruiting all year and watch high school highlights of all the potential new players, but it just doesn’t pay off to get invested in these guys anymore. It is actually painful to do that now.

This is very true.  Following it during the off season is just too painful.  Life is too damn short.

Me too.  I give up on trying to care about the players anymore.  They and their families are just using us.

Man there are big problems in the system, but this "they are using us" stuff.....come on.

What scholarship athlete has picked UNT (or anywhere else) based on love of the school?  Very few. They picked based on scholarship and what situation benefits them the most.

Just like students. Who often also pick based on scholarship ($$) and what benefits them the most.  Sometimes they transfer too.

Students and athletes sometimes enjoy their time and develop affinity and loyalty.  Many times they don't.

You only support this system because it benefits your school and your donor rich system.  Not everyone is a rich private school.   The system should allow everyone a shot to be successful.  The athletic situation we find ourselves in now is not much more than a glorified community college.

Like coaches getting hired away instead of having to fire them, good players moving on for more money or a "bigger" stage may be a good in the grand scheme of things.  It means we got a good year or two of production out of the players which hopefully means we had a successful season.  A good year or two on the gridiron or court (or softball diamond, volleyball court, soccer pitch, tennis court, golf links, track or pool --- did I forget anything?) is all we should really expect or count on going forward.  We just need  to reload with similar talent, rack up more wins than losses and have some success in post-season action.

Don't care.  These kids are doing themselves a disservice.  I would love to see the academic progress of these young men.  Roughly 12% of FCS players make the NFL, yet these kids are ignoring their academics listening to these predatory agents and chasing the almighty dollar.

I get your point, but I do know there are a lot of young men who are forgoing a college education so they won't be forced to go into student debt.  I have regrets on how much debt me and my girlfriend have taken on with our post graduate studies.  Plus I have nearing a full year of being unemployed and that is causing my a lot of stress.

What field do you work in and what are you looking to do?  Are you open to relocation?
