I really don't see him as a starter at that level. He can probably be a good role player and knows the system.

to be clear, this is not my diminishing a player only after he leaves...I hate that shit...but agreed. I definitely think he could fill 15-ish minutes a night on a winning Big 12 team, but I don't think his handle is tight enough to be a primary ballhandler a level up.

gotta figure WVU fans are sounding a lot like us when a new CSU player signs here

Ross doing Ross-things.

Bringing in guys who have bought in, before trying to find 8 bench warmers for next season.

Floyd was likely the best defensive guard in the American last season. He was our best ball handler and had more assists than any player at UNT in the last five seasons (impressive when you look at our run of guards).

Floyd can attack the basket to score in the paint. He’s also an average-ish 3 pt shooter.
His only real weakness is a lack of a mid-range game, but that really isn’t important in basketball anymore.
Most importantly, Floyd is a winner. In his college career, he has won a JUCO national title, made it to the CBI title game and the NIT semifinals.
Some day the college basketball system might change and we will be able to retain a player like this. That day is not today. He’s probably making 10x what we can pay him at WV. I can’t even be mad at that.

His schedule will be getting just a little tougher...

And it did for Mac, as well.  Ross is going to win big, as well.  Maybe not quite as much as Mac, with Tech throwing more money at basketball than most schools, but he's still going to win a lot.  UNT had 2 of the best coaches in America leading us for the past 8 years.  Don't kid yourself.

When a coach sets a bad example players will follow. Sad day for these young men. Poor leadership builds poor character in the next generation.

So are you saying that a coach should never leave their first head coaching job?  If so, Ross should still be at Paris Junior College.

I’ve said it a thousand times, but coaching is a career choice.  Most coaches are going to move up the career ladder just like any other profession.  I know it’s trending in the opposite direction, but playing college sports isn’t currently a career choice.

Not sure why your post make me think of this, but can you imagine attendance if you bring in an entirely new team that doesn’t win?  There won’t be 100 people at the games.
