Sadly, No....

FCS schools can and do offer NIL compensation to their student-athletes. While some FCS programs may not have the same level of resources as FBS programs, NIL collectives and individual sponsorships can still provide opportunities for student-athletes to earn money.

Examples of FCS NIL Collectives:

Are there NIL collectives in the Ivy League?  They don't even allow athletic scholarships; but since this is all being forced by legal action, I imagine they have to allow NIL in some form.

So, I guess he is headed to Houston. Right?

We're already set at quarterback with Weigman.

UNT on the otherhand only has Miami's 5th string qb and a guy who never started on varsity in high school. Give Iamaleava a few luncheons in the Super Pit and he should be all set.

Did you not watch our bowl game last season?  Obviously not.  Mestemayer is the real deal.

That guy wouldn't start for anybody else. The fact that you think Texas State is a standard to meet says everything about the state of UNT football.

I avoid commenting to you other than occasionally to joke around but I'll say this, whoever our QB is this year will have better production than your QB.

If it's Poffenbarger, he was not Miami's 5th string QB. He was brought in to compete for the starting job until Cam Ward committed. Ward initially was going to the NFL before later committing to Miami. It's not a coincidence that Eric Morris was Ward's coach at Incarnate Word and Washington State and Ward's Miami backup is now joining Eric Morris in Denton.

The Military Academies do not allow NIL.

So far the Ivy League has resisted, but their are calls for change...

Collectives are not what the NIL intended. Salaries are not what the NIL intended. The intent was to allow the players to earn money off their name, image and likeness. Salaries don’t do this.

The funny thing is that most of these kids try to make a dime off of selling clothing with their name and number. Sorry, but I’m not buying a sweatshirt with a kid’s name and number when there is a 90% chance he won’t be on the team next year. It is a screwed up system thrown together to avoid a lawsuit. As I have stated before, they should either receive from the school a scholarship or a “salary” agreement but not both.  Some of these kids have zero interest in attending class or know that they aren’t going to the NFL/NBA, Jason Edwards, and are trying to get as much as they can now. They will blow most of that money and have no education to fall back on. Do they even track academic progress anymore?  When was the last time a young man or woman was suspended for grades?

"Tennessee was aware that Iamaleava's representatives had reached out to at least one other school, Oregon, prior to the start of spring practice, sources told ESPN, but Oregon said it wasn't interested.

The day before the winter portal ended in January, Iamaleava's representatives asked for his deal to increase to the $4 million range, but Tennessee didn't redo it."

That is why I stated “I know this is more on the player”.

Oh, I think it's both poaching from other schools, and players selling themselves to highest bidders.

There should be both money caps and contract time restrictions.   This constant free-market is what is driving coaches and fans crazy!

Did anyone go to the open practice on March 29th?

It was not marketed at all, or I fell off the email marketing list some how (I could see both happening with UNT).  Someone I know close to athletics said we specially "we're not having a spring game this year.". Seems like that is usually a hallmark of FBS programs.  Maybe we have nothing worth showcasing?

They did send an email asking for my Club Tix money.  Definitely didn't fall off that email marketing list!

UT didn't have a spring game either, if memory serves.

Yep, lots of teams this year, if not most teams.  This is basically the year the spring game died.  Matt Rhule and others were saying spring games had essentially turned into exhibitions for other teams to steal their players via the transfer portal.

Exactly this and I'm betting that's why there's no videos on social media except what the school puts out. I'd imagine there was a short list of media personnel allowed in at the spring game with the agreement that no video would be put out. No set public depth chart also means other schools can't come in and recruit the top of your depth chart. All I've seen is posts with basic written information.
