Softball at Tarleton (4/8/25)

Down 6-0 after two innings.

Skylar exited in the first again. She loaded the bases with one out after a hit and two straight walks. A miscue at second between Tatum and Cierra that could have been an inning-ending double play allowed the first two runs to score.

Smith came in and gave up a homer in the bottom of the third. Might have been playable at Lovelace where the foul poles are ten feet further. Then a couple doubles then another homer.

A Bearclaw hit and a barrage of Tarleton errors allow UNT to get on the board in the top of the fourth. 6-2.

Now 6-2 in the bottom of the 4th.

Sometimes you watch a game.....and the team just doesn't to be "there." That's the way I feel about our girls tonight. From Skylar's walks....to the miscue between Sparks and Simon.....just seems like we're "phoning this one in."

Maybe we'll come back........we have that ability. Go Mean Green!!!

Add one more to the Mean Green tally. Cierra hits a triple then Moffitt gets her in with a sac fly.

This stadium also has more real estate in foul territory which has been more frustrating for us than Tarleton.

Frustrating 6-3 loss. The small ball was too small tonight. No timely hits to supplement the fact that we had runners in scoring position the last six innings. Tarleton took advantage of two big innings.

This is the kind of crap that drives me crazy. We should not be dropping games to Tarelton. We can't win the AAC, or earn a spot in a regional, when we can't even beat Tarelton. This is not where our program should be after 6 seasons under DeLong.

I actually like DeLong and I appreciate what he's done for our program. But we've reached a point where he needs to take it to the next level, or find a coach that can. Just my honest take on our situation.

I don't really have one. I mean, I want North Texas do win, but I'm not a soccer fan, so I can't speak to the quality of our program. But, I know he has been at UNT a long time, and won a lot of games. But, our success at soccer doesn't register with me. In women's sports softball and volleyball do.

He did a great job building our program, but it is time to elevate it to the next level.  Not sure if he is the right person for the job anymore.

He was a much better coach when very few paid any attention to soccer.

Your logic about Delong and finding the next level doesn't apply to Hedlund, because you aren't a fan of soccer?

No. I don't understand soccer, so I have no logical opinion on the subject.
