The American Conference - Commish Tim Pernetti wants you to stop calling it the AAC

The way conferences are realigned now simplicity is an attribute and at the mid major level I applaud this commissioner’s attempting to innovate.

We could use some of that spirit in our athletics department, as I was astounded that we only approached one candidate for the BB position. In the latest issue of the alumni magazine the new Pres brags about having nearly half million alumni. All that says to me is that you continue to do a pitiful job of reaching any of them consistently

Just asking but how do you know we just approached one BB candidate? Granted I never heard anyone else mentioned but was jokingly told to join the athletic department if I wanted to know. The AD said I was too old.

The National search was handled by a search firm to keep names confidential from others than the AD.

Why is it ALWAYS “A SEARCH COMMITTEE “ rather than those who have a true interest in the future of NT athletics?

Back in the day, and I mean way back ,I was invited, along with a small handful of other grads, to a meeting to review applications for athletic director of North Texas State. While we did have an interest in the future of NT athletics we didn't have a clue what we were doing. I don't remember who we recommended , to whom our recommendation was forwarded , or even if it was forwarded, but the man that was eventually hired lasted about a year before being fired for having an affair with a married staff member.I think both were married but don't recall. My point is thank God for professional search firms who do this for a living.

Quit using AAC for our conference, the American Athletic Conference?  Probably has more to do with pushback from the ACC.  AAC is are too close to the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Why not just change it to the Big14 Conference and start wearing P5 patches?
