I would go to WV over Michigan if I were him. Ross featured him. Dusty May barely played him.
This is a tough loss because not only is he a great player, but he is also a very happy, friendly positive influence in the locker room. We had no chance to keep him though as he will easily command more money than our entire NIL budget.

I'll miss him, but he needs a little more work to get where he needs to be.  Definitely capable, but cost us a few games with poor ball control and decision making.

Agreed and he had a very bad finish to the season in my opinion.

I’m not disagreeing with you, but if this is true, that’s crazy.  He’s athletic and has a high ceiling, but he honestly hasn’t done anything to earn such a payday.  Ball handling is very much below average.  But, yeah, he can run the floor and jump out of the gym so I guess that’s all it takes.

A big but expected loss, I do think he kind of disappeared at the end of the year.

I would not be surprised, although disappointed if no NT players return.

Ross appeared to ignore young players, so freshmen and sophomores' ability is an unknown to the fans.

AAC 6th man player of the year

All conference first team

Yeah well all he can do is run and jump, he's got a lot to work on, can't dribble, ended the season poorly, won't miss him.

Are y'all serious? It's ok to say he's a great player and the program will miss him.

To be clear, I wasn’t saying we won’t miss him or that I wouldn’t love to have him back.  My point was that I don’t see him as a difference maker worth backing up the Brinks truck for at this point. But yes, he has an extremely high ceiling and if he’s going to make the money @MeanGreenZenwas referencing, it will be based on that high ceiling.

Rereading my original post, it definitely comes across as negative and I didn’t mean it that way.

I am not saying he is worth more than our entire NIL budget, I am just saying that plenty of richer programs are going to be willing to pay him that much.

A lot of cope going on. He’s an incredible athlete who we would have loved to get back for another season. But as others have pointed out, he’s gonna get a big bag somewhere.

Yes, and I really hope D Rob reaches out to at least Vice and Mason to try and get them to stay...

Vito now reporting that Lorient is not officially in the portal. My guess is Dr. Ob is withholding his paperwork until he atleast has a chance to make his pitch to stay. Unless his pitch includes $200K, Lorient will eventually be gone.

I won’t believe it until it comes out of Vito’s mouth. I knwo he’ll be gone but 24/7 has become a joke

I agree. I thought he was rounding into a “go to” player about mid season but he kind of plateaued. The young man has a huge upside, but as noted above, his ball handling needs a lot of work. We will miss his defense, which reminded me of A Scott with the weak side help/blocks. I wish he would stay, but that isn’t the way of today’s ball player.

Vito did also tweet no UNT players are officially in the portal yet.

Question for those don't recognize players who came and go after a season or two as true UNT guys, if Lorient sticks to the draft this off-season and gets drafted, how will you view him?

Wasn't just you but others as well. Yes, Lorient is still raw, but some of the ways fans are describing him are unreasonable. And for what it's worth on his end of the season, he was still very efficient from the field except against UC Irvine I believe. Otherwise his shooting percentages stayed high. Just didn't get many shots off and if I recall correctly, he regularly attracted extra defenders.
