I think Mosley did a great job with this hire. I'm excited that they decided to stick with the identity of being a hard defense program and continue to build on that. I think it's a smart move.

On another note: the Denton Mayor showed up. I don't recall him showing up for previous coach press conferences...is this a sign of stronger relationship with the city?

A stronger relationship with the city could have been made if we had played OSU at home.

Let’s go!! Loved the daughter video she was fired up for him and quoted his coach speak. Anything can happen but I think we will be pleased with this guy and the trajectory of our program. Let’s get to crootin’ and schedulin’ coach. Season tickets purchased.

As a 66' graduate and long time supporter of UNT athletics I have been to my share of announcements regarding new coaches and conferences but was pleasantly surprised at the VIP's in attendance today at coach D Rob's introduction. The Chairman of the BOR, Chancellor of UNT Systems,President of UNT Denton, and the Mayor of Denton were all there. In the past I don't remember anyone from that level of administration being involved. I met our new President and asked him to do me a favor. Please introduce the Director of Marketing to our Athletic Director as I don't think they know each other. He said all the right things and offered that we have work to do in our Brand Management and that he has brought some one on board to address that. I then met our Athletic Director for the first time  and suggested to him that he, the President, and our new basketball coach should invite the leaders of the Basketball NIL's to lunch/dinner with the objective of transferring the relationship they had with Ross Hodge to coach D. Rob. On a personal note I got Covid twice and while contributing financially to the MGSF I gave up both my basketball and football season tickets. However I feel "born again" and purchased a season basketball ticket today. In addition I plan on buying 1 or 2 Club seats again for football dependent upon whether my 15year old grandson will commit to joining me. I have sever spinal stenosis and can't walk long distances but don't want to pay for white parking. While buying my basketball ticket I discovered today that we can use the blue parking lot, park by the athletic dorm , and catch a shuttle for the disabled [ I may need to limp a lot]to and from the stadium being dropped off and picked upat the Mean Joe Green statue. This is good to know for those who have a disability issue and were unaware of this service.

Good info.  Thanks for suggesting to the Prez that our AD needs more marketing help!

Did the new Prez seem genuinely like a sports guy, or just there because he had to be?  Our past Presidents that really were involved with our Athletics helped make a lot of things happen for the program!

We are a defense first team, right?  Thank you MeanGreenGlory!  GMG

I'm very happy about that and am excited about him saying that too.

Highlights for me: defense focus , toughness, high character recruiting, he is a mentor at heart .

Exactly. We won't know if it translates to Ws until we know.

But on paper, he checks the right boxes for the program.

He seemed to realize that UNT has made a significant investment in athletics and that it is a window into our university. To me the fact that the Chair of the BOR and Chancellor of the UNT System were in attendance was important. As to whether or not the President is a sports guy or not I really couldn't tell. However he was very approachable and willing to listen to others . As a side note, D Rob [ our new coaches nickname ] seems like the real deal. I was somewhat apprehensive when his hiring was first announced but came away from this meet and greet feeling very positive.

Good post.  And yes some of our larger donors to basketball were in attendance as well.

I need to apologize to our main ticket office at the stadium. They DID inform me of this shuttle service several years ago  but at 82 my memory is not what it was which has been proven several times by NT80. [He relies on actual data, which I appreciate, while I rely more on my memory bank, which unfortunately has had a lot more withdrawals than deposits ]. My experience with our ticket office has been great! They have always are friendly, helpful, and of most importance to an old man very patient. I am chagrined [ don't get to use that word often] that I indicated otherwise. My bad!

I hope if I reach 82 my recall of Mean Green history is as good as yours.   I have to use google now to remind me of a lot of info. Thanks for your input and experiences!

I have ridden the shuttle for several years and it worked quite well for me.  I wonder if they have one for basketball games?  Handicapped spots are very limited close to the Super Pit.
