Totally prepared to get blasted for this, but it is something that has always drove me nuts.

Cle State would be considered a lesser program and play in a lesser conference, no?

They performed at an above average level, not winning the conf or advancing beyond a few rounds of CBI.

Wouldnt there be concern for bringing in a slew of players, that played in that system, in a lesser league, against lesser talent, with mid to moderate results?

I’m not necessarily knocking the players, but the mentality of “I hope he brings XYZ players with him”.   If they couldn’t dominate the Horizon, how are they going to fare in the AAC?

I hear you, but so far I think what we're adding from CSU is a plus to our overall roster build

there were a handful of lower-level transfers that made an impact on winning tourney teams this season. Kai Huntsberry was a D2 transfer, keep in mind

I think it's all about the individual player and perspective of their expectations.

 - Stevenson was an impact freshman who I bet had his coach not come here likely would've been transferring up anyway
 - Arnett looks like a tougher version of Newell who stays 15-feet and in
 - Reece Robinson seems to have a bunch of upside

now if we carry over much more from their roster, I'll be concerned...but so far that's a good start to a 8-9 man rotation

Why do we even make them go to class?

I had class with Tony Mitchell. Only saw him on exam days. Or maybe that was just because I only showed up on exam days? Hard to tell.

I think you are right. Plenty of other players that big programs have already scouted out that are riding the bench waiting for their starting role. No need to pull the scraps from lower schools.

Look at our #1 scoring option. Came from what I would consider a on par team in Drake, but not their primary guy.

We wouldn't get the scraps, we would get their best and leave them the scraps.

Just like another team will get our best and leave us the scraps.

we should be looking at everyone who fit's the program Robinson is looking to build regardless of where they played last season.

sometimes top 50 recruits turn into Rondel Walker...really good role/energy/defensive players

sometimes un-recruited players turn into Tylor Perry...HoF-worth legends.

I'm not blasting you...but the Horizon league is full of really good players who could play at other places after they develop as Freshmen and Sophomores.

We like to believe that we are a "high" mid-major.  But are we really?  Maybe we are just an average mid major?  We lost to another mid major last night in UCI who has a 7'1" center from Germany.  If we are so much "higher", why have we not had a 7-footer in Denton in at least 20 years?

We need to humble ourselves a bit here (myself included) and understand that great basketball teams are way more about culture and chemistry, and coaching...and a lot less about superior talent at our level.  There is very little difference in Rubin Jones and Jasper Floyd.  There is very little difference in Aaron Scott and B-Lo.  There is zero difference in Abou Ousmane and Mou.  Those are all kids who went on to P4 programs late in their careers after developing here.

Whoever D-Rob brings in...we need to support because they are probably very good basketball players and the coach is bringing them here because he feels that they are coachable and have the talent to win.  We'd all be better off getting excited and supporting D-Rob and Jared instead of Monday Morning Quarterbacking from this board or X.

Bold #1:   Yes.
Bold #2:  7' Germans are not requirements for success, unless you're the Dallas Mavericks.   I'd take the INCREDIBLE run of PGs we've had over the past 8 years (Wooly, Javion, Tylor, Atin) over a 7' German... every day.
Bold #3:  images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTG_tVVZvZ3j-LnDmkLQlp Moulaye thinks that's funny.

Otherwise, yeah!  Good stuff!    Stay on board.   New conductor, same train.

three in for next season

Ja'Shawn Stevenson - 6'2" 200 Fr. - this was the one that jumped out from their roster after I learned of the hire...from Chicago, all Horizon freshman team, averaged just shy of 10ppg...not great 3pt numbers (34.5%...comparable percentage to Floyd/Massie, but on twice as many attempts) but those percentages usually go up with age...2pt FG% at 44.5% would've made him the third most efficient scorer here behind Lorient and Sissoko...84% FT% would've been second behind Wright.

Dylan Arnett - 6'9" 240 Jr - 11ppg 7rbg...including almost 3 offensive rebounds/game...has literally taken 1 3-pointer in his entire career...just reads like a super hard-working and efficient post player and has gotten consistently better each year at CSU. don't know if 11ppg will translate, but I could see this dude being 8&8 next year as our swing 4/5

Reece Robinson - 6'8" 225 Fr - coach's son, but (as mentioned above) those underlying numbers for a freshman actually look pretty good...5.5ppg, 4.5rpg in 16 minutes/game...15 starts as a true freshman, 6'8" 225...that's a contributor

I like the size already!
