Nope.

He'll get a college deal that will draw him back one more year.

Ridiculous.  The goal of a college athlete is to go pro, but now they can make more money by NOT going pro.  That’s an f’ed up system.

During one of the games a week or two ago the commentators basically said unless you're a top 12-15 pick you can make more money in college.  I think we're gonna get more four year players (even if most play at 2-4 schools).

You're 100% correct. I don't like it, but the current system will suggest he take a high major deal over a G league deal.

Brock Purdy has STARTED a Super Bowl…and makes less money than Arch Manning

According to done posters on this board, the goal is to attend one school and be loyal to it...

Somehow getting a degree is rarely mentioned

And the way things are going, this was unthinkable at one time, but eligibility rules are going to go away in college sports.
You will also have guys bouncing between the NBA and college basketball. Guy plays one year for Duke, three years for the Lakers then a year for Baylor. Ridiculous but it is coming.

Yaxel was the difference against us in the tournament semifinal. We just didn’t have a dude like that. He may be the highest paid player in college basketball next season.

Nope. Dickinson, some freaking how, was given his 17th year of eligibility and has since hit the portal.

And I thought it was a way to give kids an opportunity to get a college education.

Why do we even make them go to class?

No, no, no.... it was so "'kids' could buy toothpaste" because they can't work....

Lol...

Gotta wonder how many people were duped into being agreeable to this vs where they stand today...

It realty begs the question - Do some of them go to class?  Cooper Flagg is making almost $5mil this year and will enter the NBA draft after the season.  Is he really going to class at Duke? Exception to rule of course, but the point stands.

who? Might you mean Johnson, Vasquez, or Moore? You lost me.  I'm just looking at the game's next 3 highest scorers.

let's get this thread back on the rails...

Three CSU players entered the portal so far today:

Ja'Shawn Stevenson - 6'2" 200 Fr. - this was the one that jumped out from their roster after I learned of the hire...from Chicago, all Horizon freshman team, averaged just shy of 10ppg...not great 3pt numbers (34.5%...comparable percentage to Floyd/Massie, but on twice as many attempts) but those percentages usually go up with age...2pt FG% at 44.5% would've made him the third most efficient scorer here behind Lorient and Sissoko...84% FT% would've been second behind Wright.

Tyler Spratt - 6'5" 200 RS-Fr - redshirted last year...no idea if injury/readiness related...offers from CSU, Robert Morris and High Point seem to be his best...so I don't know...he's Alex Cotton?

KJ Debrick - 6'9" 240 JUCO Sr - presumably a Floyd 5th year eligibility? played in 33 games averaging less than 3ppg/3rpg...would be pretty bummed if we burn a ship on him.

Who is gonna be Coach Robinson's Matthew Stone?

I was gonna say his son, Reece, but those underlying numbers for a freshman actually look pretty good...5.5ppg, 4.5rpg in 16 minutes/game...15 starts as a true freshman, 6'8" 225...that's a contributor

For sure!   Those numbers are right around Moulaye's #'s last year playing with Allen.

three in for next season

Ja'Shawn Stevenson - 6'2" 200 Fr. - this was the one that jumped out from their roster after I learned of the hire...from Chicago, all Horizon freshman team, averaged just shy of 10ppg...not great 3pt numbers (34.5%...comparable percentage to Floyd/Massie, but on twice as many attempts) but those percentages usually go up with age...2pt FG% at 44.5% would've made him the third most efficient scorer here behind Lorient and Sissoko...84% FT% would've been second behind Wright.

Dylan Arnett - 6'9" 240 Jr - 11ppg 7rbg...including almost 3 offensive rebounds/game...has literally taken 1 3-pointer in his entire career...just reads like a super hard-working and efficient post player and has gotten consistently better each year at CSU. don't know if 11ppg will translate, but I could see this dude being 8&8 next year as our swing 4/5

Reece Robinson - 6'8" 225 Fr - coach's son, but (as mentioned above) those underlying numbers for a freshman actually look pretty good...5.5ppg, 4.5rpg in 16 minutes/game...15 starts as a true freshman, 6'8" 225...that's a contributor

Totally prepared to get blasted for this, but it is something that has always drove me nuts.

Cle State would be considered a lesser program and play in a lesser conference, no?

They performed at an above average level, not winning the conf or advancing beyond a few rounds of CBI.

Wouldnt there be concern for bringing in a slew of players, that played in that system, in a lesser league, against lesser talent, with mid to moderate results?

I’m not necessarily knocking the players, but the mentality of “I hope he brings XYZ players with him”.   If they couldn’t dominate the Horizon, how are they going to fare in the AAC?
