I am obsessed with how the college basketball environment is changing in a way that will further separate the power conferences from the rest of us.

Next year there will be a $20M cap on revenue sharing.  What?  Will we be able to ever reach that amount?  With revenue sharing and NIL and the power conferences steadily growing, will mid-major programs be able to compete for players?

Maybe it is true that there will be two major tournaments that actually mean something to the programs that reach them.  One for the power conferences and one for the rest of DI.  The Tournament without auto bids and the NIT I'm assuming.

Maybe all we can hope for is a run in the NIT or a jump to Power 4-5-6.

Here is a good article I have already posted, but think it is interesting.

The answer to your first question is no, very few will be able to nut up the 20 million cap.

There is a good interview with Jared I watched where he explained some of the new NIL laws going into effect July 1.

Anyway, it sounds like we will have an advantage over some of the mid majors due to our size of enrollment and the ability to budget NIL expenses through the University and student fees etc which had not been available.   So it appears our NIL budget will increase which is good but it will never be what they get in say the SEC or even Big 12 and smaller power conferences because they have much more revenue from the conferences they are in to work with.

One additional item, I sense that Jared is haggling with President Keller for total amount of AD NIL funding and then he is dealing with both men's football and basketball as to what the percentage is between them and that will be interesting to see where it lands.   I hope they give basketball what it deserves.

Very important. We have a recruiting/culture problem in football. It's palpable. Please don't waste money so we can "compete" and go 6-6. Just like I have beem referencing about basketball... we have to do something different... flex.

$1 million in football gets you a few decent transfers and fighting to finish .500.

$1 million in basketball can get you a legit group of transfers and competing for championships. We don't have the money to really compete in football. Throw most of what we have at basketball. The NCAA tournament exposure and related credits are too valuable to pass up.

I know you've been preaching this already. Just can't help myself but reiterate it because it seems so obvious.

This is where the G5’s have to stick together and file suit. The more time passes the more I hate the Monopoly Conferences.  Sankey is a POS.
