You can really tell the posters who don't pay much attention to NCAA MBB outside of UNT or March Madness around here.    We get lists of guys who either currently coach or used to coach at UNT, guys that UNT played against recently, or old unemployed guys that had some March success at some point.

Remember when the Benford disaster ended?    Who had Grant McCasland lined up as an option prior to the week before hiring?    Let's let this thing play out and hopefully Mosely isn't lazy about it.    I wouldn't be surprised to see a completely different name pop up and gain steam sometime soon.

Scott Cross is 50 and the only UTA men's basketball coach with a willing record. His Troy teams play good defense as well.

A lot of dudes around here bring him up all the time (honestly, he really wouldn't be the worst hire), but only because they're familiar with his work at UTA when we were playing them home/home each year.
Again, this just seems like a recommendation based on familiarity.    The scope must be broader.

I don't disagree but it looks like our AD was caught flat footed by Hodge's departure.

There are things our AD does that make his performance underwhelming (lack of marketing, lack of fan engagement, lack of fundraising, lack of facility planning, lack of public program advocacy, lack of moving the needle on much of anything since he's been in the role, etc.).

However, given the relationship between Baker, McCasland, Hodge, and Mosley, I would be shocked if Mosley didn't have a heads-up about this. On the contrary, I'd bet Baker reached out to Mosely before contacting Hodge as a professional courtesy.

Not to mention... you should always have a short list ready, for any/all sports.   And that short list can't only be assistant coaches already here.

He did, and that's when Mosley found out he was losing Hodge with no plan 'B".

I hope he gets it right!

It's way more difficult to replace a winning coach than a losing coach.   Fans will not have much patience once they smelled winning!

That's a lot of underwhelming at a time where we need fan and student engagement more than ever.

Maybe Thin Wren needs an Asst AD?

If you have an IQ over forty and you look around at the Super Pit 'crowds' and don't assume a winning coach is going to leave, you are an idiot. I am sure that Moseley has a plan B...I don't accept the caught flat footed theory.

I have not seen signs of "Mosely > Plans" for much of anything.

Cross would be my favorite, but I fear the UTEP coach getting a deal here.

Out of the sitting HC’s being talked about this would be unacceptable as a hire. Very long ramp up time at ACU to get successful, barely .500 overall at UTEP, with a losing conference record. What would suggest he’s ready for a step up to AAC?
