This UCI team just doesn’t miss damn

The worst thing is twice late in the game they did miss (near air balls) and it dropped right into their rebounder who put it right in.  Then we go and miss layups on the other end.  Disappointing way to end it.

Enjoying this post game on the radio. What an end of an era. The entire basketball building is gone listening to them. What a strange feeling. Will we have 15 new players and 5 new coaches? Craaaazy

I'll take that over 7 Defensive Coordinators in Football

go ahead an elaborate.

You imply that it was a tightly contested ball game... It really wasn't. They shot nearly 50% from the field vs our 34%. We had 21 more attempts at the basket than them due to them having 17 freaking turnovers to our 5. Rebounding was about even....they doubled us up on assists (18-9) which suggests they had ua chasing, and we often were. Every metric here suggests that they are superior than us. It felt like we got our ass whipped... but lost by 2. Their carelessness with the basketball prevented this from being a true 10-15 point ass whippin'.

I feel like the Hohn 3 pointer as the shot clock was expiring with about 3-4 minutes left was the dagger.  Similar to the prayer 3 pointer by UAB in the conference tournament.  When shots like that fall for you, it’s just your night.

I immediately thought of the Haggerty prayer v. Memphis

We led around 27 minutes of the game, Irvine for about seven with the remainder being tied.  Even though the Anteaters may have dominated statistically sans turnovers, we were definitely not whipped.  They didn't even really lead until the last ten minutes in the contest.

Their efficiency took over. If they didn't turn it over, they were going to come execute in the halfcourt. For about 6-7 possessions in the final stretch we traded baskets. It felt as if they could've kept doing that, and did...

My 0.02: I felt like if we hadn't had our worst shooting of the year, we could walked away from this with a comfy W.
