Getting this thread back on topic, let's take a look at what UC-Irvine has to offer.

* Established on October 4, 1965 with a mission catalyze the community and enhance lives through rigorous academics, cutting-edge research and dedicated public service.

* Most recent enrollment figures shows UC-I to have 29,438 students.

* UCI-I has now claimed 8 world records, 5 which it currently holds.  They are: the largest red light/green light game, largest game of balloon tag, largest dodgeball game, largest water pistol fight and the largest game of capture the flag.  These all take place during the student's Welcome Week.

* The mascot is Peter the Anteater making games against UNT as probably the most unique mascot/nickname altercation in the history of mankind.

*  UNT and UCI have faced four times in the past when they were both member of the Big West Conference.  The series is tied 2-2.  North Texas won the first two meetings with UCI winning the last two.

* The musical group The Cranberries adopted UCI briefly as their team although the relationship was short lived once The Cranberries realized it was UCI and not UTI.

* The Anteaters are 31-6 on the year.

* UCI and UNT share Oregon State as a common opponent during the regular season with UNT beating the Beavers 58-55 and UCI losing, 67-55.  Both teams also played and beat UNI.  North Texas and UCI both won that match up by 20, UNT 68-48 and UCI 80-60.

* UCI is led in scoring by senior, 7'1" C Bent Leuchten at 15.4 ppg.  Right behind him at 13.4 ppg is RS-Senior 6'7" F Devin Tillis, no relation to M-M-Mel.

* Their guards, 6'2" soph Che Miles and 6'2" grad student Justin Hohn are just behind Leuchten and Tillis at 12.1 ppg.

* Their top rebounders are Leuchten (9.0 rpg) and Tillis (7.7 rpg).

* Their head coach is Russell Turner, the winningest coach in UCI history with 289 wins in 14 seasons at the helm.

* UCI averages 75.9 ppg while giving up 66.5

* They shoot .453 from the field, .353 from three and .803 from the line.

Listening to the radio broadcast...I remembered UNLV was in the Big West.  Hank and Dave seemed almost shocked that the Running Rebels were.  I guess I remember too much about basketball from my youth.

NT 24 ---------- UCI 11

7:56 to go

Committing a lot of fouls, but otherwise we're really rolling at the moment.

I could see them closing the gap by forcing contact to get to the line

Did Ross get that T?

No, it was Jossell, arguing with the ref he was fouled on a 3-point shot.  He was.

Jossell was awarded the technical. Likely something he said to one of the officials after getting some contact on that three he shot.
