UNT is favored to win the NIT this year.  That's a good feeling,but also, not.

I would never overlook UC Irvine.  I was really upset all year because they were getting way more attention that we were all season.  30-6 deserved that I guess.

2 different things. Monson was fired, and their team went all out for a swan song.
North Texas coach, after years of success with the program is heading towards greener $ pastures.

That said, North Texas might be the best team remaining in the field regardless, with their track record of success in the postseason, veterans of the NIT and champs 2 years ago.

Most definitely for me.  The Gene Hackman movie Hooisers was filmed there.

Hinkle Fieldhouse (named Butler Fieldhouse from 1928 until 1966) is a basketball arena on the campus of Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Completed in early 1928, it was the largest basketball arena in the United States until 1950.

Very unusual looking arena....

What would be the top 3 places to see a game? Off hand, I’d say, Allen Fieldhouse, Cameron Indoor Stadium, and Pauley Pavilion, but Hinkle would be on the list for the next few places to see a game.

Cameron Indoor and the Phog are musts for me.  I've seen a few at Pauley through the years and as you'd might expect all the tributes to Wooden and their history are great.  Also neat to see all the national championship banners (but only those...they don't hang any for Final fours/Sweet16s/whatever...it's all or nothing).  They also have a nearby Hall of Fame with the title trophies of ALL of their sports.  I think they have something like 130 total.

So if you are going to be a North Texas basketball fan, and I REALLY enjoy being one. You better be happy with and appreciate the NIT.

And yes, they are going to take our coach and take our players (and I was crying about it more than anyone when all this started) but they can’t take our TEAM away: the Mean Green basketball squad that represents our university. 

And as long as we have a team, we can get a new coach to root for with new players. And we can still beat teams like Oklahoma State, Minnesota and Washington State. And if they won’t let us in to the NCAAs, we can win the damn NIT. 

There is something punk and underdog and rebellious about us and that is fun. F it all, we can still compete and we can still win. And we are going to keep doing it.

I hope teams will at least schedule non-con games with us here and there so we can at least see how we match up.

Our non conference schedule must have some chance to enhance our resume. Playing SWAC teams are lower is a waste of resources. Those games are just tossed when selections are made. Cheats season ticket holders as well.

Too bad the original Barnhill Arena is gone. I would add the Dean Smith Center, Rupp Arena, MSG and Texas Hall.

Lol.  Which of those was not actually ever intended to be used as a basketball arena?

It was probably the most dangerous court in America for players to play on full speed, as the orchestra pit was about a 4 foot drop off the edge line...

The story goes that when Snake Legrand had recruits on campus, he would have campus police padlock the place.....so they couldn't get in.
