Yeah, but it's a requirement that if you're leaving UNT for a Big12 school, you must leave us with some hardware and a banner in the rafters on the way out.
I didn't make the rules.  Coach Mac complied.  It's only right that Hodge does as well.
The Rebuild will be there.    Ideally, the incoming coach will have some ballers that come with him from his previous school (It worked for coach Burton!).

THAT is the only positive thing that could come out of this.

IF we win the NIT, there will be mentions of the fact that we had a coach win the NIT and then go to a B12 school where he was immediately successful and then his replacement repeated the act 2 years later (along with a decent season in the previous year).

However, that very small ember will only last for an extremely short time.  If we follow this up with another Benford (or even a little better), we'll be right back where we were for the previous 30 years.

In the grand scheme of things, this is probably just another time when we're on the cusp of breaking through to set a new  level of reputation, only to fall flat on our faces.  It's what we've done for nearly 50 years.

Three of our last four coaches have been hired away from Power Conference schools.  Sure Jones didn't do well at LSU, but he was good for us and he's back to being a solid coach at Texas Southern.

Can we address the core issue here? Why does the OP have such a negative and frankly condescending view of farting in the elevator? It’s one of my favorite hobbies. Don’t be so judgmental, bro.

As much as I love Hodge, if Grant brought him with him, can we really give JM credit for finding him?

And since Grant wasn't found by this AD, I am still not sure why you are not seeing that this AD has not actually made a good hire.

Burton is his only hire that seems to be decent, but its in a sport that has even less visibility than our mens team.

Preach on bro. Exact same way I feel.

My only point was three of our last four coaches were poached, so we're not a graveyard any longer.  It wasn't Mac who changed that, it was Jones.  Sans Benford we have had a winning program for damn near 20 years.

How many coaches has Mosley had to hire? Burton, Hodge, and Eric Morris? So we won't give him credit for Hodge because he was already here even though I'd argue he still had the final say and chose to promote Hodge. We won't give him credit for Burton because it's not popular? Seems like some are cherry picking because they don't like the guy.

I think Mosley deserves a bit more credit. Not a single one of those 3 hires has been bad. Football, especially in this era, is as tough to build up as ever. I know Morris hasn't had immediate success but I'd argue we haven't taken a step back either so there's still hope.

And like CMJ said, we aren't a men's basketball coach graveyard. I think we're a very desirable midmajor job considering the proven recent upward mobility. I'm choosing to believe Mosley is capable of making the right hire until proven otherwise.

Burton is where his credit is due... women's basketball.

He doesn't fundraise well. He's also not a promoter because he lacks energy, charisma, and hunger. Our attendance in basketball is a fireable offense within itself. No expansion progress in years. We'll never have baseball with this type of leader in place. And we'll celebrate the 100 year anniversary of The Pit in 40ish years as well. Just mid... all around. But, sure, yeah, he hired Burton..

I agree 100%

I want a new AD after this whole Fajita bs luncheon...that was the tipping point for me.

If our AD was a UNT alum, you know dang well that individual fight like h$ll to have that game in Denton...period.

None of that has anything to do with hiring a head coach. The only thing I'm saying is there's no evidence to suggest he can't make a good coaching hire.

I don’t get this argument. Every AD wants to do well.  They don’t want failure on their resume, they want to show they can lead a successful program. You all really think Moseley wants “Luncheongate” on his resume. This could easily be on Keller. I’m not defending the guy, but pointing out we don’t know the facts.

My knock on him is he doesn’t rally the masses. Baker didn’t much either but he was a friendly face. Moseley is just more stoic in nature. I posted a while back that his coaches like working for him and that’s a good thing.

He has officially hired Hodge, Morris and Burton. Morris is still up for debate with this being his year to show vast improvement. Hodge has been great and continued our success in MBB. Burton has changed the expectations and culture of the women’s program but next year will really prove his worth having to do it without Lampkin. My one criticism is that we play really sloppy at times. Also, Johnson just walking away is a head scratcher.

I think Moseley is truly a basketball guy and will make the right call with this hire.
