STATEMENT FROM VICE PRESIDENT AND DIRECTOR OF ATHLETICS JARED MOSLEY

I want to sincerely thank Coach Hodge for his incredible impact on our men's basketball program over the past eight years. What he accomplished as head coach during our transition into the American Athletic Conference was nothing short of remarkable, elevating the program with back-to-back NIT appearances. Beyond the competitive success, his leadership in the locker room and his influence on the lives of our student-athletes and staff have been truly inspiring.  

We are grateful to Ross, Shelly, Emery, and Reed for their dedication to UNT Basketball and wish them all the best in this next opportunity at West Virginia.  

Our national search for the next head coach is already underway as we continue building on our momentum. We will not have further comment until the search is complete.

Is it weird that a statement like this came out? It seems during GM's NIT run the rumors were there but nothing was really and truly confirmed or spoken about officially until after the tournament.

Translation: Anyone within a 50 mile radius of DFW or somebody I know from my "good ol boy network" that once called DFW home because I am incompetent

What are you attempting to communicate?  Mosley or any other AD would like to have more funding, unfortunately NT has a very tight budget. 

You can blame the AD for not being able to raise more, but calling him a tight wad when the bulk of NT's funding comes from student fees, is questionable.

Remember, the slam dunk replacement hire was already here in that instance.  No need to say anything like this because we knew who we were going to hire.

Now, we don’t have that guy, therefore we need everyone to know we’re looking so agents & search firms can do their thing & line up applicants.

I remember that NIT and there must have been a concerted effort to keep it silent until after the tournament run was done.

I think they kinda forced Jared's hand this time with all these unofficial-official announcements.

We don't have that guy.

We don't have a competent guy that is responsible for hiring that guy.

We don't have a concerned guy that is responsible for replacing the guy that is incompetent and responsible for hiring that guy.
