Just guessing but perhaps our new president didn't want to rock the boat with staff. At the end of the day it was his call.

I would say he got a lot of rocking in the media and with fans for that poor decision!

Some of the names posted are ridiculous.  But I have comfort in knowing that the athletic department will find a way to do worse.

Because staff luncheons are what really matters.

From an inside source Mosely has hired a new coach for the BB team.  He didn't have to look far to find a candidate who is very familiar with the Pit from top to bottom and side to side.  Mosely says he will save alot of money to insure his bonus money.  Mosely is set to hire the lead janitor at the pit to coach the men green.  He will get a four year contract worth $250k.  No buy will be in the clause.  Mosley could not be reached for comment because is hiding in the Pit somewhere.

Who’s on your wishlist for UNT to look at?

I am not sure. There is risk in no matter who you hire. Do you want a retread?  Someone with no d1 coaching experience?  What are they willing to pay?

I thought Greg Heiar at NMSU was a good hire. And he is right back in the final 8 at his juco.  But it was a total dumpster fire at NMSU.

When Forbes left ETSU they gave it to his trusty assistant who fell on his face. Then they hired an outsider who lasted 2 years and now they are on another Forbes assistant. He at least improved from year 1 to year 2 so it looks like he is getting a 3rd. Good enough to not get fired but bad enough to not get hired away.

There really is no telling who will do really well with this new pro NCAA basketball.

Nobody can outspend Memphis so they will have the top talent every year.

How much is coaching and how much is payroll?

How much is loving your wife & kids?

I question the Florida State hire. I question UNLV, I question the Colorado State promotion.  I question teams hiring NBA guys with no NCAA experience. I question mid major guys like Ross getting thrown into higher levels and not being prepared. It's a no lose situation of course because in the worst case he walks away $15 million richer and then getting another mid major job.

I guess there is a lot of infighting right now on if they can promise the new coach will be able to get an NIT home game over the really important staff lunches.

I guess we have to cross our fingers and hope for the best.

I just cannot see the current transfer as many times as you want without sitting out system. The no limits NIL.

It's going to implode eventually and I don't have the answer.

Cross looks interesting. He had a rough go his first 2 years at Troy, but the last 4 years look just like Hodge and Grant.

Estelle might be good, but I didn't see the engagement on the sidelines like with Herl, so not sure there. Seems like it would be the lazy hire.

The other 2 I guess got picked out of a hat to fill the quota of 4 candidates. I mean, LT and UTEP. Are we really looking at a coach at mediocre UTEP???

The only concern is that he thinks THIS is the transfer portal:

Golding really, this one worries me.  I check in on the UTEP fan forum and they want the guy fired yesterday.  If UNT offered him a job the UTEP fans would help the family pack and would drive them all to Denton.  In fact they even unload the truck for him.  He has done nothing at UTEP.  They are in CUSA.   Want a coach from that conference look at th Jacksonville coach.

Golding would be a travesty. A lazy, ACU tie travesty. But... due to all of that... likely.

I like the idea of Rodney Terry.  And you would not have to pay him too much because he has a huge buyout from UT.  Dude can recruit.

And can’t coach. Benford 2.0. Look at the talent he had and the resources at UT and shat the bed.  Nice guy, poor coach.

Golding cashed in on his upset of UT a couple of years ago.  He’s done nothing since.

Can’t get a read on Estelle.

Cross is the only one that makes sense but Troy just signed him to an extension and increased buyout.

Only reported that they are working on an extension. Not that it’s been signed. UNT was working on a long term extension for Ross and…
