The defense or system or philosophy or whatever is not what made the team better.  It's recruiting, identifying talent on other teams, and using the portal to reload our roster each season.   That is the game now....replacing good players with better players.  Ross knew what he was looking for.

This is a uniquely wild take. Our defensive philosophy isn't what made us successful.... just, yeesh. Wow

It's more about recruiting unique players to run the defense.  They are veteran college players and off winning programs.  I don't expect you to understand.

We routinely have had lesser talent than our peers during this 9 year run. We competed 100% because of the system and players buying into it. This isn't a debate.

That’s not true about our players. Our players matched up well or better than most teams we played.

It’s their veteran experience and coming from teams that won.  Several fan forums of teams we beat said we had better, quicker, longer athletes than theirs, and that was the difference.

Disrupting a team's preferred style of play is what allows us to win.  I think it was Mark Adams the ESPN announcer of a few of our games said that we make teams uncomfortable and the only way to beat us is to be comfortable being uncomfortable.

I think that is a good way to put it.

UAB knows how to play us.  I am glad they lost and hope we can win it all.  It is the culture these coaches created that needs to continue.  We don't have the money to compete with big schools, but that doesn't mean we can't be at them.

I am very curious to see how Hodge does with deeper pockets.  I'm really thinking Houston.  McCasland was never going to take our style of play to Texas Tech, but Hodge can at WVU.  We just need someone to keep that tougher team wins mentality goingm

Every measurable metric suggests you're incorrect. But that's cool.
