Doubtful, he has no prior head coaching experience and that has seemed to be a big prerequisite for Mosley.

TBT...Does that count?

I'm okay if we a hire from within or someone from the outside as long as we maintain our defensive philosophy/ identity.  After all, it has been our "brand" for the past 5 years or so.

If we deleted “North Texas” here, and replaced it with, say “Kansas”, a perennial blueblood program… if this resume came to you as an application for HC of UNT MBB, what would you say?

No because he hasn't had the slightest bit of experience being a head coach

Sir, we’re about to lose just about everyone from our roster in 2 weeks or less.   That sucks, but it’s almost a certainty.  The identity Hodge built is not a requirement.   Finding a winner is a requirement.

Most of them are graduating.  The only big ones we lose to portal NIL are Jasper and Belo

I don’t think the last comment was necessary, but the general idea is that it would be one we’d all pass over.

I mentioned this in another thread, but the defensive system was always Hodge which is why we had it under Grant and Hodge. With them gone now, the new coach will have a different system. Combine that with our problems in recruiting before Grant and Hodge. Get ready...

I disagree.  It doesn't have to be the same system, but we have to find a coach with the same mentality.  Mac's video of him addressing the team and stating, "I didn't come here to win 15 games.  I came here to win championships."  That has to be the mentality.  We are a know program and there is no reason we shouldn't expect to build on that.

Does the entire staff go to WVU?  I don't expect them all to, and I expect assistants Estelle and Herle to interview.  If hired, I would expect them to retain some of the current staff, most notably Shaw, Randle and Forte.

How is Eric Morris working out so far?

Morris wasn't a hire from within.

If you want to keep your current culture and you have a guy on staff who seems to be ready, you go with that man.  Someone from the staff knows the opportunities and challenges of being the Mean Green head guy.  Few never had head coaching experience before he got the Gonzaga job.  Hell, if a Blue Blood thinks they have a guy in house they go with that too.  Scheyer had no previous head coaching experience prior to Krzyzewski retiring either.

We Are Bleed Green is legit and made it to the finals two years ago.  Some of those teams have serious backing.  This ain't Duke.  Ross Hodge coached JUCO and now he coached for WVU in the Big 12 and we are very proud to have had him for two years.

The defense or system or philosophy or whatever is not what made the team better.  It's recruiting, identifying talent on other teams, and using the portal to reload our roster each season.   That is the game now....replacing good players with better players.  Ross knew what he was looking for.

I think it was both. A lot of our wins came because we played such good defense and were a deliberate offense.
