Even in last night's game, they were speculating.  And it seems to be getting a lot of traction here.

Hope we know we love him here.💰💰💰

We love him so much that we won’t let him host a game in the NIT for faculty fajitas…

This feels exactly like it did when McCasland went to Tech.   Back then I had a bit of hope in my heart that Grant would stay because of family and Lubbock sucks.   Alas I was wrong.  These coaches want to make as much money as they can and win at the highest level.  I can't blame them.  I just wish I felt better about Mosely finding Hodge's replacement.

The longer we keep playing, and the longer WVU's vacancy remains open... 😐

Wren is playing this perfectly. Let us show Hodge how much UNT thinks of sports and he will come to WVU for a few hundred thousand less.

Oh yes,
With each game we win, it's easier and easier to sell the WVU fanbase on Hodge.   I think if we would have bowed out in the 1st round of the NIT, it would be a much tougher sell to their fans/boosters.   But alas, Coach Hodge is a good one, and he has the guys rallying on this NIT run.

I wouldn't be surprised if this happened. He's a great young coach with a history of working with Wren. Unfortunately this is what we can expect as a mid-major; a revolving door for coaches to move into power conferences. We have to be ready to reload at any given time.

Some of the presumed top candidates for the job have either taken positions elsewhere or ended up not being a good fit for WVU, which is the reason the search is still ongoing. Now entering its second week, a new "leader" has emerged, North Texas' Ross Hodge.

If Hodge ends up being the guy, there will almost certainly be a mixed reaction from the fan base. While he does have an impressive start to his young head coaching career record-wise, there are a lot of reasons to be concerned.

Let's start with the lack of experience.

Hodge has seven total years of head coaching experience, only two of which came at the Division I level. He was a junior college head coach from 2006-11, spending three years at Paris JC where he went 83-17, and two years at Midland College where he logged a record of 63-7. Impressive? Certainly, but that was well over a decade ago, in the old era of college basketball, and at a much lower level.

Mosely can't find an open arena on campus to host an NIT Quarterfinal and 8000 paying fans.

I have no confidence in him anymore.

NIT semifinals are not until next Tuesday, April 1.   That's a lot of time off...enough for Hodge to sneak off and go visit WVU for an interview.

The more there is quiet from Wren, the more it's like TTech with Grant.   That was a deal done, then announced as soon as we finished the NIT.

sounds like it official, just got email

If so I do not want Hodge to go with the team to Indy for the NIT SF's, at least Mccasland waited until after NIT finished

I want him to finish what he started. Most likely his team already knew before last night.  It’s a new world in coaching, too.

My only real surprise is it happened before he made the NCAA Tournament.  I figured the first time Hodge did so, he'd be gone.  This time it was an NIT semi that got Baker the cover to go with someone he knew already.

I don't want to move away from our way of playing no matter how many people come to games.  I don't think playing like every other school will help us win considering our lack of focus on spending for basketball.

Congratulations and best of luck to Ross Hodge.  And many thanks.

Unfortunately this was a Hodge system. There are some others that run it, but unless we promote from within, I don't see this system staying.

That would certainly not be a guarantee either.   I'm sure Coach Herl has a different picture of what he'd like to see his ideal team play like.

West Virginia Mountaineers on SI is predicting Alan Huss from High Point.

Ross think about your kid's education.  You are going to West Virginia where English is optional.

Ross in a year.

I will look forward to WVU vs. Houston.  That will be a great game for me anyway. 😆
