So that Wren could, if he wanted, hire Grant at his next stop. This should have never been approved by the President or BOR. However, it could have been Grant who wanted this provision.

I think Wren would be very wise to hire Ross and Ross would be an idiot to turn it down…and this is before we confirmed that our leadership cannot stand having a basketball team that is worth a damn

I will never defend blatant stupidity. But I don't think they can't stand it. They're just indifferent. Which is certainly cancerous, but not filled with ill will as you suggest.

A pretty general list of possible candidates. Hopefully this is just rumors and nothing else.
