Sorry but if he has signed on with WVU, he just needs to go. I do not want him on the sideline for the rest of the NIT. Slap in the face to the players and fans.

So, Hodge leaving UNT is a done deal?  Not that we could afford it, but did we even negotiate a counteroffer?

Negotiate?  You mean like have the AD stand up for Athletics and get the luncheon moved so we could host the quarterfinal?  LOL

Unfortunately this was a Hodge system. There are some others that run it, but unless we promote from within, I don't see this system staying.

Basketball now at this level isn't so much about systems....it's about recruiting and working the portal to find undervalued, experienced, winning transfer players.   That's what made Ross unique.  His ability to find talent quickly and reload.

Good luck with recruiting anyone going forward. If you are a recruit, anyone else will bring this entire eff-up up non-stop.

I think highly of Hodge and think he's a great and will be a great coach for a big program down the line but I feel it may be a bit early no? Obviously from a financial standpoint, he's setting up wealth for a few generations by going now but if I'm a WVU fan I'm not sure I love this hire. McCasland was here for 6 years and did way more than Hodge before he left. That said I have no ill will towards him or anybody in the business.

As a former radio giant and scholar and current podcaster used to say..."it's called the way it is."

I think Hodge is getting some credit for helping those GMac teams become what they got to...i suspect that even with just 2 years of being a head coach, he's shown everyone that he can recruit a brand new team and have that team buy in to his defense-first program.

Personally, I think Wren hit a home run here for WVU. And he probably got him cheaper than he thought he would have to spend as Hodge knew what was going on behind the scenes here with a leadership that absolutely didn't care about the sport and an AD who was impotent to stop them from using the Super Pit the way they wanted to.

No, Mosely was too busy pouring tea at the teacher appreciation luncheon.

If we were good because of our defense and Hodge was responsible for our defense and we didn't drop off when McCasland left, I think Hodge gets the benefit of the doubt.

Great coach and great hire for a team that wants to focus on defensive analytics.

No it's not.   He's on the ride with them.    They've no-doubt circled the wagons now.

Now, it's gonna be a full-out recruitment for the next coach coming in trying to retain Jasper, Brenen, & Grant.   All 3 of which could likely enter the portal and go to WVU.

It's going to be a massive rebuild next year, and if we get the wrong guy, we're screwed.

Agreed.  I am watching Big 12 and WVU content and they are reporting that Hodge told them he is sticking with his team til the end of this run.  They are impressed with is LOYALTY.  Even though they want him right away.

For us, it has 100% been system. We often have lesser than in personnel in comparison to our opponents. Our system and players buy in is what allowed the system to successful.

I don’t see any way that B-Lo doesn’t go with Hodge.

Yes he will take all of the assistants and also Belo and Jasper.  I think we may be able to retain Jossell if he is granted another year.  That's about it.  The new coach will bring some of his players though.

Doubt it.
