Well....if all of you would do your part and donate more money, they could build their own basketball arena and then problem solved. We can't expect the current leadership to deal with the current situation. Not their fault.

The athletic department has a senior associate AD, facilities and event management, assistant AD facilities and event management, director facilities and event management and assistant director facilities and event management. And evidently the 2nd largest entity in our athletic department (the basketball program) is in a facility these people have nothing to do with and no influence on.

Boggles the mind...

How about we plan ahead for next March, NOW, and avoid ever allowing such an embarrassing cluster phuck from happening again?

Rick

You do know what institution you are talking about, right?

You'd be better off to tell them that there will be a big-time music and arts exhibit next March, so block off the entire last half of the month of availability for the Super Pit, then tell these phucks that they got fooled and it was all about keeping the damn place available for something that people actually want to come and see.

LOL, exactly.

Was hoping someone could answer this?   I believe our total Athletics annual budget is around $40-45Million?  Does anyone know where that ranks compared to the other departments?

That is on Wren Baker. He inflated the insulation around the athletic director while here. I called it out while he was doing it several years ago. No one seemed to care. We love wasting money at UNT and we hate sports at UNT.

The budget is $53 million. From a Vito article in Feb. (D-RC)

UNT finished with a surplus of $59,951 for the 2024 fiscal year that ran from Sept. 1, 2023, to Aug. 31, 2024. The school’s athletics budget was $53.3 million, up from $49.7 million from the previous year.

This is ALL the AD has to do here...while never complaining in public.

Maybe it is time to let the machines run such things. A moderately well-directed AI would have seen this conflict coming and averted it. It’s a terrible place for lunch anyway; go somewhere with natural light and not a jet black ceiling. Even an AI would know that. 😁

We may not need to worry about that with all the possible turnover in the programs. And there are several on this board that think the NIT is a waste of time. They say NCAA tournament or nothing. Maybe the administration agrees with them.

Good.  I'm sure the blame was misplaced, but I'm okay with giving this clown show as much grief as possible.

Half correct.

The admin thinks all athletics is a waste of time.

The only way we'd get support from them would be if a trans player was getting national attention for beating the crap out of girls.

Ha!  After this clusterph_k, any donation that I would give towards a new basketball arena would have to have some guidelines on usage.  It would be a simple one-liner:

UNT BASKETBALL ONLY!

And build it in Frisco, just because F Denton. (Yes, I know the logistics of that doesn't really work, but would love to see it happen.)
