See what thinking ahead does.  Staff appreciation should be moved to the Gateway Center and moved to later in the afternoon.  Included with the dinner is a ticket to the ball game.

Next year, don't plan anything until mid-April.

Wait, women's could not host either?  WOW.  Great way to get coaches to stay.

Ugh.  Was not aware of this.    The fact that he would come out and voice this is damning.    He's only saying what he feels he can.  You know he has a much stronger opinion on it because his team has worked their butts off for this opportunity as well.    No doubt Coach Hodge feels the same way.

This is absolutely the type of thing that sours a coach on his admin.
Both coaches have done well enough to get sniffs from other programs.  I bet both of their agents are looking, and all a different school would need to do is match salary, or beat it a little, and sell Burton/Hodge on their admin/student support... which should not be difficult.

This is one of those times when the entire University should have come together to ensure that these games stayed in Denton. There is no excuse for moving these games.

Lack of a creative solution to solving this problem is what everyone is, and should be, frustrated by. All this screams path of least resistance. We want to keep both of these coaches, not piss them off through controllable situations of our own making.

Hodge are Burton are both likely incensed and they have very right to be.

The worst part about this is the luncheon and games are a good 12+ hours apart. Who decided anything needed to be canceled or moved? There's more than enough time make it all happen IF those in charge wanted to make it all happen.

Thanks to Coach Burton for speaking out on this issue. Hodge took the high road because he never wants his teams to have an excuse. It wouldn't surprise me if both left at the first good offer.

It is actually brilliant on the side of AD.  I haven't seen this much attention being paid to UNT basketball ever! 😆

I do agree this dustup is actually bringing needed media attention to both basketball programs.

Marginal fans will see that UNT is progressing in the NIT.  It's the kind of grass roots rebellion that spurs more fans and support!

It wasn't the luncheon.  It was a cheerleading competition that they had a multi year contract signed for.

I'm confused.  The Pit schedule showed cheerleading is not until Friday.

How is a Tuesday night game a confliction for it?  Wouldn't a Wednesday luncheon also then be a confliction?
