Yes, this is the end of a great era at North Texas.  NT worked hard to cause him to leave...poor attendance and the ridiculous luncheon fiasco.

Neither of which had anything to do with Ross leaving.

Much better conference and pay are much more important factors.  It is the destiny of any teams not in the B12, SEC. ACC and maybe Big East.  Other conferences can't match the exposure or money.

I don't see how there won't be a wider and wider chasm separating conferences like AAC and the power 5 due to $$$ and attendance.  No remaining Cinderellas already!  And only two SEC teams missed the Tournament.  Now people want to do away with auto-bids?

I heard on the Ticket this morning that one guy who has seen the writing on the wall for the College Revenue sports says that the next big realignment will be a breakaway of the Power Schools creating their own March Madness. They’ll control the narrative, get their networks to sell the buzz of only having bigger programs’ fans and eyeballs, and make smaller, lesser brands play in their own playoff system.

I was actually thinking the same thing.  Whether they do it officially or not, it is heading that way as it is.  Teams are DI, but are they really DI?  No one really thinks that all DI are the same anyway.

Just two years ago you had two non power league schools in the National Semifinals (FAU and SDSU), with one making the Final on Monday night.  This is one year where no mid major Cinderellas made the Sweet 16, but I'm not ready to call it a trend yet.

However, the big boys will obviously pounce if it goes even three or so consecutive years.

I liked Hodge, he worked well for UNT's program, but he had issues on the offensive side of the ball, in particular drawing up quick offensive plays and in bounding the ball under pressure.  It will be interesting to see how he does in the BIG12.

Hodge did a solid job, but had not yet equaled his predecessor. Somewhat risky hire for WVU - and we are being honest, only Wren would have made this hire. I don’t think any other P4 AD takes that risk without at least an NIT championship.
We will survive.

Ain't a lot to do in Stillwater or Morgantown to compete with athletics...that is a fact.

Yeah? What is there to do in Denton? Like, really? Every place is all the same... bowling, top golf, movies, restaurant? Every place is filled with the same ole overpriced bullshit.

Honestly, his stuff coming out of a timeout was decent. I hated his under own basket inbound game, which was nothing. He was also pretty terrible in high leverage moments. We'll see if he improves there at WVU. Medium risk to this hire for Ozempic Man.

Not a good look since we are still in the middle of our NIT run. But losing the home court to a faculty lunch is also a bad look. I hope the guys can stay focused and keep winning.

Anyone know Hodge's buyout?

Oh, my heavens, West Virginia?
Ozempic works well on fat athletic directors
Life is odd there, especially family
Marry your cousin, once she turns 13

Coach been stoled, from our home
To a place, he don't belong
They got no dentists or running water
It's gettin' old, our Coach been stoled

Banjo players, gather 'round you
Your their plaything the next hour or two
Like Ned Beatty, squealing at the sky
You'll get some moonshine, just so you won't cry

Coach been stoled, from our home
To a place, he don't belong
They got no dentists or running water
It's gettin' old, our Coach been stoled

You hear a voice from an luncheon ceremony
Fajitas remind you of your home far away
Drivin' down the road, you get a feelin' that you'd rather say
Go Mean Green

Coach been stoled, from our home
To a place, he don't belong
They got no dentists or running water
It's gettin' old, our Coach been stoled

The Score said Hodge received a 5 year deal at WVU.  That seems like a bit of a risk to me, for someone with less then 2 years D1 coaching experience, no Q1 wins, no championships, or even appearances in championships.  I dont know that I would have supported UNT offering a 5 year deal.

I think UNT could be at an advantage here, this is a program that has send 2 coaches in 2 years up into lucrative BIG12 deals, that should attract some decent coaching candidates.  This should be the top mid-major coaching vacancy in college basketball.

Yes, it's a little like nepotism.   It was the easy pick for Wren, no background vetting needed.

What Wren giveth to UNT, Wren taketh away!

Unfortunately, I think this was due to those 2 coaches and they both were not brought in by this AD. He is the weak link and the primary reason I feel we are screwed.

Yes.  I'd rather keep Ross and replace Jared!
