Please send President Keller an email at president@unt.edu and voice your displeasure. I know it won't change anything but at least I feel like I got a chance to let him know how a lot of alumni feel about this blunder.

To the diehard alum who have sat through 5% capacity games in the not too distant past: I hate this for you the most. 

Correct.  However, that fan base is part of the problem as it is likely only about 10-20k people.  There's a lot of talk about the 400k alumni in the area but the reality is that probably 95% of them don't give a rat's a$$ about NT sports.  They didn't when they were in school and they certainly don't 20 years later.

The numbers that the AD has shown before indicates its actually 98% that don't care enough to give back a penny to athletics.

What saddens me the most as an alum is knowing that I went to a school that almost completely shows pure apathy to its teams, as if we are some ISD that just offers sports for the fun of it. I get that we are never going to be UT, A&M, Tech, or even UH. But when a large city school like UTSA can start up a program and zoom right by us within a decade, its more than disheartening, its just depressing. But that's my fault for accepting this from my alma mater. They continually tell folks like me that they don't care if we win or lose, just don't lose money.

Total bullshit. Who is the moron that comes up with the attendance number?  Would love an explanation for reporting about 50% of actual attendance and how they arrived at these ridiculous numbers.

It's actually Luncheon RSVPs....they submitted the wrong numbers.

I just picked up my car from the autoshop and they were talking about the game being moved. If the mechanics are talking about it , everone is talking about it.

I wanted to simulate the decision to allow a faculty event to cancel a home tournament game so I punched myself hard in the nuts.

This news is the most UNT that UNT ever UNT-eed.

My coworkers brought this up to me at the office today.  They know I am UNT because I wear green on casual Fridays.  Hubby said I guess there is no such thing as bad publicity but I am not sure on this one lolz!

I talked to a friend in the news in Temple. She has the month of June reserved in case Baylor makes the college World Series.if they do not make she can change her plans.

Kinda have to look at it that way for this one. It is PR.

The positive spin on this is the outcry it has caused! Shows the support the Mean Green have! Imagine PG (Pre-Grant) it would just be our GMG echo chamber, but it seems this has spread further! 

Not sure it will change anything, but at least the love from the fanbase is felt.

      No, my point being University-wide apathy. That’s worse than just a scheduling Uh-Oh by the AD. University-wide Apathy is what caused this. If you, or me, or FlyOnTheWall or Harry, SUMG or…fill in the blank_____________ bleeding-green-alum were in on decision making, we’d had made sure last April, last May, June, July, August, whenever the schedules are planned for the upcoming season, we would have made damn sure tournament time in March for the SP is kept open, or flexible. It would keep us up at night after we were off the clock, making us sick, stewing about it till we got it right. And if we were told no, we would go up the chain till we found a YES. Instead, the university , not simply the AD,…told the entire college basketball watching world that The University Of North Texas does not care about athletics, and told our teams and our donating alumni to go pound sand.       Yes,….all effing day. Now, they know how tuff of a team we really have, winning in Stoolwater where it was 5 on 7. We beat Ok State, the refs,….and the North Texas Administration. Rick

      Solution. Build a state of the art 6,000 seat arena prioritized for athletics on the Frisco campus and get sports city USA, Frisco involved. Frisco is ripe to turn Mean Green. That city will embrace family entertainment and fun things to do across the year. At the watch party at Wings Over Frisco I swear some of the tables were made up of UNT Frisco students. They were scooping up the pennants and cooling towels couldn’t believe they were free. It was so cool to see students excited to rep their University. All you need to do is replace 4,500 Denton diehards with 5,000 Frisco family residents, students, and the same traveling alumni. Who do we lose the Denton campus students. It would suck on that front but you could get 5,000 regulars in Frisco in a 6,000 seat arena with some crafty marketing to a hungry city environment. Make UNT basketball Frisco’s team. Radical yea. Deserved yea. Prioritized absolutely. GMG
