Basketball game at the Pit Tuesday night at 8pm, luncheon Wednesday at 11:30am....where is the confliction??

I mentioned this hours ago, even before we found out what day the game would be.

One...they didn't know when the game would be scheduled Tuesday or Wednesday.  But they had to tell the NIT if they could host or not not knowing the day.  Also, playing Tuesday night they'd have to likely pay a staff overtime to clear everything out and set everything up for the next morning.

Do you even hear yourself. They'd have to get overtime employees in there to work so this team, fans, alum and community could enjoy what should have been the last (earned) home game of the season... instead, our "leadership" was like, 'nah, phuck that.'

You seem like a reasonable person. Your defense here is not valid.

I'm not defending anyone.  I'm literally saying what the likely cause was.  I have no ins with anyone who works facilities at the Super Pit, but my guess is that unlike pro stadiums that frequently work overnights on rush schedules to clear floors, etc. that the folks at the Super Pit rarely, if ever, do.  They may not even get everyone to agree to work last minute.  The staff probably will leisurely set up for the luncheon on Tuesday afternoon and put the finishing touches up that morning, rather than pulling some sort of all nighter breaking down the basketball floor and then rolling out whatever nonsense they would have to do for the staff appreciation event.

Plan ahead.

They did it exactly like you have described because they are academia and have never run a real business. Kind of like career politicians trying to meet a budget.

Hey, don't tell me to plan ahead...I'm not defending anyone.  I'm not even saying that's exactly what happened, just my best guess of what the major issues are.

The facilites people don't really work in academia.  That's like saying janitors on campus work in academia.  I mean they SORTA do, but not.

Obviously we should have planned for the NIT game just in case, but I think we are giving too much credit to OKST.  I like to keep up with former players and watch some of their games.  Even for high profile games, they have difficulty getting people to show up at their own arena.  They are a Big 12 team, but...

We'll see what kind of crowd they get for a game against the Mean Green!  It's not that far from Denton!  GMG

There is a reason we are a two seed and they are a four seed.

You're probably right here, but that cost is EASILY COVERED by the gate from the game.    There would have been so many people there (including a bigger orange contingent than what ARSt brought).    Surely that was not the reason...

And if we had to tell the NIT prior to the tournament starting, then go ahead and commit to the tournament & make a big deal about it when it happens.

All Staff Bulletin:
We're so excited to meet with you and celebrate another fantastic year of achievements for our University!

As you may have seen, our Mens Basketball team won another exciting game last night, and are moving on to the NIT Quarterfinals!

To provide the space for our Mens Basketball Student Athletes to shine and represent our University on a National stage, we're going to move our Staff luncheon from the Super Pit to the Gateway Center just next door.

We look forward to hosting you all after the Luncheon/Awards Ceremony at the Super Pit for a fantastic evening of hoops!  Free Admission with your staff ID.

Come out, be loud, wear GREEN!

Go Mean Green!

It's complete insanity something so simple couldn't be taken care of.

To the players and coaching staff: I am tremendously sorry. This does not reflect your fan base.

To the diehard alum who have sat through 5% capacity games in the not too distant past: I hate this for you the most.

They do.  The people telling them what to do work in academia.

My question to the Administration...

What was the main purpose of building the coliseum and for who?

The indifference by the AD and the Administration is a Major reason why NT can't have nice things.

FIRE THEM ALL....LOL

The coliseum was built with state funds for university use not athletics. When the legislature approved it and we built it they put in orange seats. We need an athletic facility for athletics. Baylor has one for athletics and their old one for graduation and other university events.i want Baseball but this is more important. Let’s add a little arena for volleyball with it.
