I've got to ask, what's up with Lorient getting zero leeway? The guy can't follow his man with his hands up without it being a foul? I feel like it's been an all year thing.

Yeah, that was the worst of several bad calls in the latter part of the game.

Maybe an odd observation, but I thought Atin Wright probably won us the game in the final minute simply because they refused to foul him.  Anybody else goes to the line and only makes 1 of 2, or worse yet, misses both and the result may well have been different.  I don’t think I’ve ever seen quite that situation where a team refuses to foul an opposing player even though they need to stop the clock.

Now, I don’t think that makes him HOF worthy, but I do think it made him somewhat of an unsung hero tonight.

It's just mind boggling how many times we get called for stuff like that. I also lost it when in the 1st half their player slid on the floor with the ball in his hands and it wasn't called a travel. I just have no explanation.

Good point and his start to the game wasn't too bad either.

Similarly, their crowd was screaming for a walk when our guy got mugged.  No call was made.

An ex coworker texted and asked why they refused to foul #10.  I said..”because he’s The Man At The Line, Nationally, at 94% and OSU knows it”.

Actually a great observation.

I'm only a casual follower of MBB, especially until late in the season.

But I was blown away when I heard the announcers saying we were top 25 FT shooting.

Am I mistaken or weren't we a horrible FT shooting team 10 yrs ago or so?

I mean... We were just a horrible team ten years ago

I think we had a pretty bad FT shooting team early in Mac's tenure, but I feel like we've been pretty solid for several years. People always remember games like tonight where we struggle, but we tend to knock them down.

1. Escaped the idiocracy of the AD and President of the university. Don’t be surprised when both of our coaches leave due to lack of support.
2. Escaped ticky-tack refs in the final five minutes of the game. Just be consistent on both ends b/c it seemed as though the refs were making the foul count equal and keeping OSU in the game.
3. Escaped our own selves at the free throw line. 50% as a team in the final 3 minutes.

Advance and survive, good win!

For 5 full years…never bought him out, even though we all knew in Year 1 he was a terrible head coach.

Wren was hired well before Benford started his 5th season, but wouldn't fire him.   I had doubts about Wren after that.  It was a rookie AD mistake.  It killed off the majority of the season ticket holder base as most gave them up.

They had to buy out RV, plus they had just hired Littrell, so I kinda understood why they just left him there, but he was just a terrible coach. I remember making the point that keeping Bumford was only worth that last year because we got rid of RV. Then, Wren got GMac and the rest was history.

Plus Wren was hired in the middle of the summer and trying to hire a quality coach/staff at that point would have been extremely difficult.
