This is completely unacceptable. A chance to host Okst and we aren't able to? Please tell me the department is doing everything possible to see if it is feasible to host the game?

I suspect it's too late now and our admin has already officially notified the NIT that we can't host the game.

At a minimum, that will be the excuse they use to knock down any pushback on it now.

I'm not sure our game is officially set for Wednesday either.  I wonder if part of the issue might have been if they scheduled us for Tuesday, they'd have to pay folks overtime to take down everything overnight and to give them enough time to set up the luncheon stuff or whatever and they didn't want to pay everyone to work till 4am.

I'm just spitballing, not sure.

I was at the game and told that it was too late for us to change the schedule.  OSU cancelled their busses and it would cost too much for them to reschedule.  A shame that we allowed this to happen but very indicative of where we are.

Tell them to use the busses they were going to use for the trip to Jonesboro.

I could pull together enough alumni to set up 50 rounds with chairs and table clothes for free.
It is complete bullshit that this is even scheduled there.  Poor use of facilities.

There's probably protocol on proper floor removal/storage/etc that takes up more time than you'd think.

Again, I'm not defending the decision - it could be done.  But it probably would requite a lot of OT for staff, etc.

Another stupid excuse. You think that bus company in Stillwater has a waiting list for their services?    Besides, they are Big XII/Boone Pickens funded. They would fly charters to alliance and bus from there.  Send them some yellow dogs from DISD to o get them to Denton. I’m sure the Marriott would appreciate the revenue.

Not sure what percentage of ticket and concession sales we receive but I think by hosting a P4 school the additional attendance would have taken care of those overtime hours.

I think this is a good excuse to want better basketball attendance.

The university has tons of events that are scheduled in advance.  I can understand that they don't want to reserve the SP for an NIT run that might not even happen.

If we can go to them and say we can sell 6-8K tickets, instead of 2-4k, that could make a difference.

Some people are saying there's a cheer competition/event.  Where are they seeing this?

According to their schedule their next event is May then the onslaught of graduations. Pretty disturbing that this has happened.... why the phuck even care if they clearly do not...

According to our reported attendance we had 2K at our last home game.

how dare the athletic department allow a scheduling conflict in a building they don’t control!!

Who do you think controls SP scheduling?

Would it not be the President. whose first priority should be what benefits NT  the most.

A link was provided and it is a staff appreciation luncheon.
When we were invited, everyone involved should have sat down and looked at every possibility. If there was a chance of a conflict, especially a staff luncheon, move the staff luncheon. That would have been done a week ago and allowed plenty of time to make adjustments. Again, the want to isn’t there.

What benefits NT. An event that could be moved/rescheduled that has zero revenue potential and nobody but those attending knows about or a revenue producing event for the SP and Denton establishments that brings the eyes of the nation to Denton and the UNT campus?  Gee, tough decision.

What kind of Cheer competition is on a Tuesday night?!?

If it’s indeed the staff luncheon, THAT CAN BE MOVED.   How many professors do we have that would show up to a luncheon on a Tuesday afternoon to necessitate it being held at the super pit?   Isn’t that what those multipurpose rooms in the Gateway Center are for?!?

This is on the President and BOR.

1.  Why schedule a staff appreciation in the SP?  Was Jerry World unavailable?
2. At most, you need half the floor. Wall off one half and cover the other.
3.  Dinner, if it must be there, is over at 1:30pm. That leaves you 2 1/2 to 3 hours  to clear half the floor and reset it. Easily done.
4.  I applaud UNT for having this event for staff, but let’s not be so myopic that the university doesn’t understand the ability to host a quarterfinal that will put eyes on our university, something all the staff combined can’t do.
5.  Put forth the effort. Show that it matters. All hands on deck to make it happen.
6.  Think about the revenue being left on the table for the school and city. Let’s see Denton step up and help make this happen. If it’s a manpower issue, send city workers to help. Prove there is a university/city partnership and make it happen.
7.  If they want it to happen, it will.

If it doesn’t happen, I want to hear an explanation from our new president. Not some prepared statement b.s., but a stand at a podium, from the horse’s mouth, allowing questions at the end comment.

Those that down voted, explain your position. Silence means the AD Dept mole is reading the board.
