How hard did you really try? We know the work ethic out of the Admin side of the AD Office.

“We worked with campus to explore alternative venues but, for a number of reasons, weren’t able to find another suitable venue for so many attendees,” UNT athletic director Jared Mosley told Vito.

Just how many are we talking?  SURELY there is a place SOMEWHERE on campus that could host that many people.  Been this way for 50+ years.

UAB's fan forum has some thoughts on our luncheon-gate...

This is mind boggling.

I bet Hodge is livid.

When did their ADs brain turn to Brandon-style applesauce?

That said, OK State winning would probably be good for us in that they are not as good as UNT. And it would be at a neutral site,Right?
Kenpom 93 versus 71.
Anything to increase the odds of us not playing a 4th time again...

That's ridiculous. Bush league.

Sadly, or fortunately, they have no idea the true reason.  Which is much worse than just a simple mistake by the AD department.  A single mistake by the AD would have almost been acceptable.

Uh oh Rick knows something, and it sounds like someone at the top decided against exploring reasonable options.

I think it's simply a given that NO effort was put into this, including attempting to explore other options.

I had management for the majority of my career that were exactly this way.  They would do whatever required the least amount of effort and more importantly, would result in the least amount of pushback from the most vocal folks.  This while they were spewing BS about how much they cared about the employees.

Another, equally awful idea is, that the people running the facility are so far off the sports radar - just generally don't give 0.02 about sports -  that they have no read on the basketball team(s) and the accompanying success.  No clue that a crowd of people would be chomping at the bit to see the team play another basketball game, and angry that a luncheon gets priority.

No, my point being University-wide apathy.  That’s worse than just a scheduling Uh-Oh by the AD.  University-wide Apathy is what caused this.

If you, or me, or FlyOnTheWall or Harry, SUMG or…fill in the blank_____________ bleeding-green-alum were in on decision making, we’d had made sure last April, last May, June, July, August, whenever the schedules are planned for the upcoming season, we would have made damn sure tournament time in March for the SP is kept open, or flexible.  It would keep us up at night after we were off the clock, making us sick, stewing about it till we got it right.  And if we were told no, we would go up the chain till we found a YES.

Instead, the university , not simply the AD,…told the entire college basketball watching world that The University Of North Texas does not care about athletics, and told our teams and our donating alumni to go pound sand.
