It will change. Somewhere down the line the right people will finally get put into place.. Chancellor, BOR members, President and AD... it will change. Our business people are growing and that's where the change will stem from.

I've been waiting for 40 years.  We have taken two steps forward, but then one step back.

I hope you are right but I don't see that happening at UNT. We are a very liberal school that doesn't value athletics.

Of course. There is clearly a systemic approach in maintaining like-minded people in places or hierarchical power. But, the business department is growing at an alarmingly good rate and barriers only hold for so long.

I used to think that too, when I graduated in 1995. It’s 2025. Nothing has really changed, except the student body is bigger, so salaries are more. But we don’t have any kind of administrative interest in raising the status of the university’s teams. We don’t have any measurable percentage change in students attending games. We have zero marketing, as you know, nor do we have any kind of connection to alumni and athletics.

BTW, talk to anyone who graduated from here in 1985, 1975, 1965, etc…absolutely nothing changes. The culture here is to be the exact opposite of supporting sports. We love our music and arts and cheap education. That’s why 98% of people leave Denton and never spend one more minute on campus again, not spend one more dime here.

Went to the game tonight, and was all excited leaving the building after our win.  Was looking forward to coming back on Wednesday with two friends, one of whom is a OSU grad.

But nooooooooooo!  We can't have the game in Denton because we're too incompetent to schedule the use of a facility that holds over 9,000 fans for basketball.  We're using it for a luncheon instead!

This is why we can't have nice things at UNT!

I brought a 1990s UNT-alum friend of mine to the game tonight who had not been to a UNT basketball game in forever. He was so excited that we were talking about making plans for the OSU game on the drive back. Yeah, we didn't know yet. We went from extatic about connecting again this week for another game to both being beyond furious when we saw the news.  This is just so dumb.  So dumb.

Well, start the timeline of our athletic standing from your graduation year to now. I'd say there have been gigantic changes. But the changes are often subtle with large periods of time between. But we need culture change and it will happen..

The ironic (and sad) aspect of this is that somewhere they are probably promoting the luncheon as taking place where the men’s and women’s Division I basketball teams play.  I swear, sometimes it’s hard to be a fan.

More like "the place that none of you have ever been except for graduation ceremonies".

At one time it was also where nearly 30,000 of us went to register for class every semester.  I suspect that's all done online now.

But still a step forward...

I get it. I've only been a fan for 13 years. A lot of old timers been through the ringer around here. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. Liberals, particularly liberals in academia, believe they (and their precious causes) are to be prioritized above all else. They are the types that would definitely chip off their noses in spite of their faces. That's why growing the business school at UNT is very important. Getting business minded people back to the school after their graduation is very important, but getting them attached to the athletic programs while in school is of utmost importance.

It's not the fault of the people who derailed UNT or created UNT as this liberal echochamber that has shedded the school of its pride, traditions, and standard of excellence. It's the fault of the people who stood and watched.

$100 this is never spoken of, addressed or uttered under the breath of one UNT official to the public. They will take the “silence is golden” approach and just hope that people will forget over time. @Brett Vito won’t question this in the next press conference and it will never be spoken of again.

The only benefit is that we get to win in Stillwater.

I've said numerous times that we should be marketing to Frisco since Denton doesn't seem to want to support us.
Even better if we could (ugh) partner up with the Cowboys because they do have clout and facilities.

With that, we might have been able to move the game to the Star.  It was good enough for the conference tournament.
Not the best solution, but at least not a home game for OSU.

We have a mouse-in-the-house as AD right now, when we need a Lion.

The Athletic program has some important issues upcoming....$10mil NIL min requirement for AAC, Athletic Center and Master Plan goals, AAC vs PAC consideration, student apathy, donor confusion and fatigue, etc.

Who is steering this ship, and where are we going??....

Man, I'm hoping Brett can get to the bottom of what really happened here.  This is where we need investigative journalism, cuz right now this doesn't make much sense.  It's a freaking lunch....  at least when the rumor was a cheer competition it made more sense.

I wish I wouldn’t have opened that luncheon link. It doesn’t even comprehend. Offer them a casino night event or weekend in Winstar to GTFO. It’s shocking I’m actually struggling with words that describe my surprise and I’ve seen a lot from 1986.

Crazy.

Just Win!

I'm sure many of you have shot off an email to Keller and Mosely about this fiasco. Will it help? Probably not, but they need to hear and feel the displeasure of the fans and supporters. They should not get off Scott free on this.
