And that's a well known commodity they have situated for themselves. I'd trade them.

They aren't the only one this has happened with, it was just the first that came to mind.  I seem to remember another school couldn't host a few years ago because their arena was rented for a rock concert.  Kentucky had to go on the road once because Rupp was being used for the NCAA Tournament.  There have been others.

Where tf do you think we hired him from?

ACU

I guess your answer to that question for any NT employee is NT.  No, people posing that question want to know where he/she was before NT.

Well, Seton Hall hosted us just last year in their auxiliary gym. But I believe that was due to a renovation already in progress... I think. And it does happen. Usually not for such trivial bullshit things.

Old enough to remember when the Wells Fargo Center in Philly hosted a Flyers - 76ers double header on the same day. Flyers played at 1pm and 76ers at 7pm. They had 3 hours to change the arena from hockey to basketball but got it done.

I don't believe the video below is from that specific instance because it's happened a few times.

Can you imagine that game coming down to the final minutes in a nail-biter, & their crowd wills the Pokes to a win like what happened here tonight?   Lets just hope Atin is back on & we take it to these guys at their house.

Even though it seemed like Okie State wasn't all that excited about playing in the NIT in 2023, I think they would love to pay us back for that loss.

Didn't the same thing occur with the Mavs/Stars as well?

I am sure that Kentucky got a little more money and publicity out of hosting a NCAA tournament game than NT's $500 fee  and three chicken dinners.

Yes it has a few times. I'm sure it happens everywhere. My point really was that where there's a will there's a way. This luncheon should happen and the game should happen, both at the Pit.

And we’re f’n 17-1 in the Super Pit. Pretty solid odds you’re the winning games you’re hosting in that building.

This is infuriating.

Who ever made that decision not to let our mens basketball team play in the Super Pit in a third round NIT game against a Big 12 team Oklahoma St team doesn't have a brain cell one!

Someone should be held accountable for that blunder! Bull 💩💩💩

It's the most frustrating part of it. You know you're coming out with a massive crowd and huge win percentages in your favor. Now we gotta go road dawg it and it's simply not right.

I can’t think of a bigger missed opportunity in the 30 years that I have been associated with this school.

This is just another reason why we aren't in a power 4 conference. This would NEVER happen at a big time program. Our guys fought to earn the #2 seed and we have to give it away. Beyond embarrassing. UNT doesn't give a crap about athletics. To them it's just a necessary evil.

And people donate for this clown of AD?

Appearantly not. We're in like year 3 of an "almost funded" athletic center expansion. Which, if we're being honest, is the number 1 reason he should be let go (money making.is the #1 most important part of his job). Number 2 reason will be Eric after he's done failing and 3rd reason (nail in the coffin for me) is his utter lack of effort in promoting the most success this school has seen. And now this NIT fiasco to top it off....

And I'm sure he hast lifted a finger one to garner pac12 interest... baseball efforts? Psshhhh

He is a semi truck on the interstate on cruise control at 68. And he's perfectly OK with that.

Bum.

I’m betting our guns are trained on the wrong target here.   I’m betting this is a Keller thing.    Has anyone seen him at any of the games?  I don’t think he’s anywhere near as invested in athletics as Smatresk was.  I bet Jared went to bat & got shot down…. Something like:

Jared-“Hey Harry, it’s possible we could have a game scheduled 3/25.  Anything on the schedule?”
Keller-“Yeah, staff luncheon.  We have to show all our staff how much we appreciate them with this pizza party at the Pit!”
Jared-“Uh, I don’t think you understand.  This is a huge opportunity for our University.  Not only perception-wise, but financially!”
Keller-“No.  I can’t tell our staff they don’t mean as much as our basketball team.”
Jared-“Don’t cancel it, just mov…”.
Keller-“Take the b-ball team to Stillwater.  We’re having this pizza party!”

Yes he is at games, right on the floor of the basket in front of the NT bench. I yelled at him all game to move the luncheon and he didn’t care. Was on his phone for a lot of the game. Not invested like Neal was

The reality of this is that nothing will change. Jared’s job is simply to stay in budget and never make a public statement to criticize the administration’s absolute apathy towards sports.

We will continue to just gather all the student fees to fund athletics and wait to see if he gets hired away or eventually gets to RV his way to continued paychecks.

If any of you think this will ever change here, please seek professional help.

Name one other school who would rather host a faculty lunch than host a tournament game at your place against a power school? You could make so much money…but we run things around here on known costs, never on opportunity costs…which has to be in the billions over the decades for how we have treated sports here.

It will change. Somewhere down the line the right people will finally get put into place.. Chancellor, BOR members, President and AD... it will change. Our business people are growing and that's where the change will stem from.

I hope you are right but I don't see that happening at UNT. We are a very liberal school that doesn't value athletics.
