Softball versus Memphis

Boomsticks were out tonight......our gals run ruled Memphis 11-3. Everybody contributed. Skylar started and got the win.

Game 2.....Saturday at 2. You can bring your dog to the game. (but better check it out first....there are some rules)

Game 3....Sunday at noon.

Ahead 12-7 in the 6th of game 2. We've made 3 errors......so only 4 of their runs are earned.

We have hit four homers today.

Hope we hold on to win.

Player on another team I'd like to have: Their tiny RF Neely Taylor......one heckuva little batter. Hitting .387 as I post.

We won game 2.....13-7.  Now 4-4 in league play.....21-10 overall.

I caught a little bit of today's game and heard the commentator say Memphis's 2-for-3 weekend against UTSA was their first conference series win since 2019.

Don't like that we fell behind 7-2 but that 9-run inning was nice.

Hopefully we don't let up tomorrow. Wouldn't be surprised to see Smith or Childers get the start. Unfortunately the bats tend to let Kayleigh Smith down.

We will be at Tulsa and at home vs. UTSA the next two weeks before we travel to Boca Raton for 29-4, 8-0 FAU. We need to win the Tulsa series and sweep UTSA. By then we should get into that third spot in the conference that were picked to be in before the season. The two best teams in the conference appear to be the ones from Florida.

Childers is not on the team right now...as far as I can tell. Sure wasn't out there Friday night. And you may know this....the opening game of any conference series.....they announce all players on both teams. She wasn't there.

Still shows up on the roster, which might not mean anything other than it hasn’t been updated. Sounds like something @Brett Vito might investigate.

Skylar gets the start in Game 3. She throws 45 pitches in the top of the first, walks four, and UNT trails 1-0. The one run came off a pass ball that richocheted off Moffitt's glove.

We respond in the bottom half. Tatum gets us started with a hit, then a fielder's choice and a bunch of walks gives us a 2-1 lead. Memphis has already pulled their freshman pitcher.

45 pitches for Skylar for the first inning. 55 for the next four. 6-1 North Texas going to the bottom of the fifth.
