all good. it was fun trivia. I know Duke's had some pretty high profile upsets through the years, but I'm guessing their run was in the middle of their early 90s run

I believe Carolina's run was in the 80s and maybe to mid 90s (their streak was more like 14-15 years in a row).  Dean Smith always seemed to get to the Sweet 16.  I was young, but I especially remember the year they were an 8 seed and upset like a 1 seed (and favorite to win it all) Oklahoma.

Duke made 7 of 9 Final Fours in the late 80s and early 90s, but I think they lost in the 2nd round once.  I wanna say their run of Sweet 16s started around 1997 or so and went through the mid 00s.

Correct.  Tar Heel run is much longer if you go back further, pre-Expansion.

SEC, thus far, is 4-4 in Round 1 (includes the Longhorn loss)

With 7 teams in the S16, SEC has broken the tournament record for most teams in the S16 from the same conference.

This is also the first year since the 1985 expansion that not a single mid major made it that far.

Four SEC schools make it to the Reginal Finals. I hope we don't get an all SEC Final Four.

Best game overall this round was probably the Purdue/Houston contest, but the best ending was Texas Tech coming back from down 13 in the last five minutes to force OT and then winning it in the extra session.

They have the most money and the most talent. It’s probably going to be at least half SEC. I figure Florida and Auburn have great chances, while Tennessee has a fair chance, and Bama over Duke seems like a very low chance of happening.

Alabama has a really good chance of beating Duke.  I still suspect the Devils win though.

I think Michigan State will upset Auburn, but obviously that one can go either way.  Houston will probably grind down Tennessee by the end.  I'll root for Tech, but Florida looks like a machine.  I think Connecticut may have been their only scare - wouldn't be shocked if they roll their last four games all by ten plus.

If this happens, it will be the first Final Four I haven’t watched since I was about 10 years old.  I may have missed a game here or there over the years, but it will be the first time I’ve intentionally not watched.  I have no interest in watching/supporting the conference that is at the forefront of killing college athletics for all but about 30 schools.

Gotta give credit to Florida for finding a way to pull that out, but I feel like Tech blew that as much as the Gators won it.

Florida was just the better team athletically. As much as I love Grant, just like here, he did a lot with what he had.

See the amount of free throws they had.

Agreed.  I want to say Tech blew it, but Florida hit some big 3’s at the end, so you have to give them credit.  We’ll never know if the big 3’s would have been enough if Tech had hit their free throws.  And that foul when Florida was about to get a 10 second call.  Wow.

See the amount of free throws Tech missed too though.

I thought Bama was gonna be more of a challenge for Duke. Impressive win by the Blue Devils.

And now I get to watch the Final Four…at least one game of it.  Cheering for Houston and Michigan State tomorrow.
