ESPN shows last night's attendance was 2100.  Does that seem right?  I couldn't make it, but that crowd sounded loud on TV.  Kudos to those who represented!

Hope to make it for a crazy game against Arkansas State.  It is sad that attendance is down as our basketball programs are on the rise.

Myron Medcalf from ESPN says, "Average attendance for Division I men's basketball has fallen in the past 15 years, from 5,325 in 2007-08 to 4,354 last season. " (2023).  Our attendance is down from over 4000 to around 3400.

SMUT game will be monumental in terms of crowds.  We have a lot of alums in Dallas proper.

Back in my youth this was a bigtime matchup for us in the belt. We lead the H2H all time series with ASU 21-18. Our 6th most played opponent all time. This will be the 40th meeting all time on Sunday. Thought that was pretty cool!

Top 5 most played opponents all time vs UNT: Since 1949-1950

UTA - 59 times (33-26) NT leads

Tulsa - 50 times (13-37) Tulsa leads

ULM - 49 times (21-28) ULM leads

La Tech - 41 times (14-27) La Tech leads

Wichita State - 41 times (15-26) WSU leads

What do we know about AR St.

* Located in Jonesboro, AR way up in the NE corner of the Natural State

* 7,478 undergrads

* Introduced indoor plumbing to the campus in 2001 as part of their Y2K Improvement Initiative.

* Notable alumni: Bill Bergey (NFL), Tess Harper (actress), Kelsie Nichole Turner (look her up), Corey Williams (NFL) and Al Joyner (Track and Field)

* The toothbrush was invented on campus in the late 1800's

* Notable alumni listed a lot of politicians, so you know they will try to cheat.

* HC is Brian Hodgson, eerily close in name to poster @Ross Hodgeson.  One in the same?  Do we have a mole?

* Like Hodge, Hodgson is in his second year and has compiled a 45-27 overall record.  Interesting note, 16 of his 27 losses have come on the road.

* Key wins this year:  Akron, 80-75 in OT, Memphis in Memphis, 85-72, @ UAB 98-89 in OT, @Troy 84-78

* Key losses: @ #2Alabama, 88-79, @ Rice, 75-67

* Have gone 7-5 in their last dozen games.

* Taryn Todd leads the team in scoring at 14.8ppg, followed by Joseph Pinion at 12.3, Kobe Julien at 11.8 and Izaiyah Nelson with 10.5 a game.

* Their starting five carries a majority of the minutes, but appear to run an eight man rotation.

* Average 79.9 points per game with a +9.5 scoring margin.  They give up 70.4 pts per game.

* Shoot, as a team, .428 from the field, .727 from the FT line and .325 from three.

It was my understanding that the first 3 games, if we continue winning, are in Denton.

Better seeds host unless their arena is scheduled for other purposes.  So if SMU keeps winning, we go there unless they've already rented out Moody for something.

@UNTFan23 posted this on the Furman thread about us perhaps not hosting Okla St...

"Likely won't happen as I have heard there is a schedule conflict with the Super Pit. 😔"

I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere else.   Perhaps the AD's office can advise us.... (eyeroll).
