Forde Reaches World Finals in 60 Meters
NANJING, China — UNT sprinter Julian Forde placed seventh against a world-class field in the finals of the 60-meter dash on the first day of the World Indoor Track & Field Championships in Nanjing, China.
Representing his home country of Barbados, Forde clocked a 6.57 in the preliminary round, recording a career best time in the event. After a 6.59 got him through the semifinals, he wrapped up his competition placing seventh against some of the fastest sprinters in the world with a time of 6.64.
A junior at North Texas, Forde is coming off an indoor season that saw him earn all-conference honors as the American Athletic Conference runner-up in the 60 meters.
This is what makes this tournament the greatest in sports, everyone has a shot at winning it!! People that rarely watch college basketball tune in because of the possible upsets, and every now and then it happens. Every team knows what it has to do to get into this tournament, you fight all season to earn a bid, those teams that fall into the bubble are just a fluke.
