What do we know about Furman?

25-9, but only 5th in the regular season of their league.  Made conference final but lost to Wofford (the only game I watched of theirs this year).

Win over Tulane.

One of my friend's daughter went to Furman and he would occasionally wear a Furman "FU" logo shirt.  That's all I got.

25-9 overall

11-7 in conference

Two OOC losses were to Auburn (83-62) and Kansas (86-51)

Tulane was a common opponent with Furman beating the Green Wave early in the year, (11/15), by eight, 75-67 at home.

Split their conference games with the John Bugg's ETSU.  They lost on the road when Buggs dropped 11 points on them.

13-3 at home.

9-5 on the road.

3-1 neutral site games.

G PJay Smith Jr., 6'0", leads the Furminators  in scoring at 18.0 ppg.  Dropped 29 on Tulane.

6'11" F Cooper Bowser, 8.5 ppg/4.7 rpg, leads Furman in blocks with 57.

Appear, based on minutes, to run a seven man rotation with two others getting around 8-9 minutes a game.

Located in Greenville, SC.

Play their home games in the Bon Secours Wellness Arena which is also home to the Greenville Swamp Rabbits.

Finished 5th in the SoCon regular season but upset #4 Samford and #1 Chattanooga in the conference tournament to advance to the finals only to lose to the 6th place Wofford Terriers.

Mascot is the Paladins, not the Furminators.

It all depends which UNT team shows up for the game.  What this team needed and did not have was a James Reese type of player.  Whenever the team hit a dry spell Reese always seemed to come through and help carry team during those periods.    This team seems to all go cold and one time.  The scoring droughts this season were insane.  Got my tickets to the game.

..... "The at-large selection marks Furman's third trip to the NIT and first since 2019. In 1991, Furman received an NIT bid following its SoCon regular season title and dropped an 86-67 verdict in opening round play at West Virginia. The 2019 Paladins earned a first-round home game versus Wichita State, but the Shockers edged the Paladins, 76-70, at Timmons Arena.

Senior PJay Smith Jr. leads the Paladins averaging 18.0 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game. The first team All-SoCon choice and Lou Henson Award (Mid-Major Player of the Year) finalist ranks among the national leaders shooting 42.1% behind the arc. Graduate student Nick Anderson, a first-year transfer from Barry University, has contributed 14.7 points per game and was a third team All-SoCon choice.

The Mean Green, the 2023 NIT champions, are 24-8 overall and finished second in the American Athletic Conference standings with a 14-4 record this season. North Texas, 15-1 at home this season, fell to UAB in the semifinal round of the AAC Tournament this weekend."

Paladins are legendary French knights.  Back in the day when I used to read a lot of fantasy novels it was a word sometimes used as a general synonym with knights as well.
