Future Tournament Sites

FORT WORTH, Texas — Memphis is one of four sites the AAC is considering for the 2026 men's basketball conference tournament, AAC commissioner Tim Pernetti said Sunday.

Memphis is one of at least five sites that bid for the tournament. The other three are Wichita, Birmingham and Tampa. Those three sites bid for both the men's and women's tournament, but Memphis only bid for the men's tournament, Pernetti said.

 

Jacksonville also put in a bid, but Pernetti said the conference is "focused on" the four other bids.

Memphis would make sense as would Birmingham. And hello New Orleans! This should be a slam dunk in beignet town. Las Vegas is for all the western based conferences. I don’t get it. 

Thank you Fort Worth time for a change. Why not San Antonio?

Allegedly Tampa and Birmingham are the two finalists. I would prefer Tampa. Beaches, and my wife has family there so I am already envisioning her approving a week-long family trip if I can get approved to work remotely.

Easy connections from schools via Airport is important, as well as quality hotels for teams and fans.  

Wichita seems too remote.  New Orleans is a visitor center, not sure of conflictions with NBA, Mardi Gras and spring break for a Tourney.   Memphis will probably get the Men's Tourney as a perk to keep them in the conference a while longer!

Good point about air connections. Tampa might draw fans who want out of cold March weather.
