Back it up to the Sweet 16, then. Only 4 conferences represented and entirely P5. That’s the part that looks more troubling. Just limiting your view and pattern matching to “All 1 seeds make the final four” is either being naive or you’re deliberately burying your head in the sand.

Last year the Sweet 16 had eight leagues represented. Granted the Pac-12 didn't exist this year, so it'd be seven now...but still.

Last year we retained all but Tylor Perry. FAU returned everyone, and that’s just the top two schools from AAC. This year we all lost everyone…or almost everyone. Look at last year’s AAC all conference team and how many are in the SEC and Big 10 now. The full on impact of the free transfer and NIL really hit this year.

To your point, it’s just one year, but it feels like a major shift has now occurred and the fundamental landscape has changed. I’d love to be proven wrong.

My point had nothing to do with us per se, but rather the landscape at large, so I'm not sure why you brought up our lineup from last season.

My point is just one year ago people wouldn't have thought it's the death of other conferences rather than the top 4-5 being able to compete, but now somehow it is. We need a few years to see a trend line.
