UAB can score with anyone, but they are not good defensively. Control the pace and minimize turnovers, and for God's sake--no scoring droughts!

Looks like we open as a 4.5-point favorite.

Also, Lendeborg played all 40 minutes last night. Let's make him work/defend early today and try to wear him out. See if he can defend cleanly or if his legs are dragging a bit. If we can get him in early foul trouble, I think that'll change the dynamics of the game.

For ECU? Why?? To stay pad, I presume.

I really don't know. It's his third time playing 40+ minutes this season but the others were a 7 point win against USF and their OT loss against Arkansas State. This wasn't a particularly close game from what I saw.

Side note, didn't realize Arkansas State beat both Memphis and UAB but lost to Rice. College basketball is pretty great.

That could be a factor in our favor. I too don't understand why he would have him play that much in a rout. Our three bigs....played 29, 26 and 22, IIRC.

Speaking of Rice, I love this stat:

Rice is 0-4 this season against the UNT system or in games played in buildings owned by the UNT system

Add in the women's basketball and they're 0-6!

Rebound. Have to limit second chance opportunities.

I didn't see any final stats last night, but it felt like both Tulsa and NT had a lot of second chance points. I think giving too many to the Blazers will kill us.

As do I. They're the number 1 rebounding team in the conference and have the top two offensive rebounders in Lendeborg and Coleman. Together they average 6.8 offensive boards per game and the team is at 14.5 per game. This and limiting their free throw attempts are my top 2 areas of focus.

Keys to the game

1) Start fast (or, at least, not slow).  We can’t count on digging out of a hole

2) Go to the bucket.  Passing around the perimeter doesn’t draw fouls or send you to the line for easy points.

3) Limit 2nd chance points

4) No silly fouls or turnovers

Do these things and we can even survive one of our predictable scoring droughts
