Softball versus Wichita State

Game 1 of three up there.

Up 1-0 in the bottom of the second. Our run came via a Kailyn Bearpaw homer.

Down 6-1 in the fifth.

Another game in which Rodney keeps Skylar in, despite the fact that she's pitching poorly. Was allowed to give up 6 runs (5 earned) and 10 hits in 4 innings of pitching.

Of all the female athletes that we've had here......Skylar might be the one that I thought might be so great, but has fizzled the most.

Nice 7 run rally in the 6th....our gals are up 8-6 in the bottom of the 6th.

Best of times for TV viewing. My son watched the basketball game and softball game on TV this evening (he has the flu).

We are hoping to make the Sunday game in person.

Noticed Jodi Epperson transferred and is now playing for WSU.  Had forgotten and her and am surprised she is gone after being one of the freshmen that got the most playing time last year. Wonder what lead her to leave.

Had forgotten about her. You get a few transfers....lose a few every year. This year we picked up Kalilyn Bearpaw, Annica Anderson (both from Tulsa) and Riley McNemar (Auburn)......can't think of anyone else.

But it's one reason why I am such a softball fan. There's so much less turnover than in football and basketball.

Totally forgot about the game until walking out of Dickies. Awesome comeback. We won two of three against them last year but only scored like three runs in the series.

Epperson was not a big contributor last year. Good for her if she's playing more in Wichita.

I wish we could have traded her for that blonde freshman pitcher that nearly threw two no-hitters against us last year.

We lost 7-2 y'day. Rubber game today....at Noon on +.

Our pitchers (Anderson, Smith and Maloney) only gave up 4 runs y'day. 3 were unearned. 

Best news is freshman Gracie Maloney pitched a scoreless inning. But did give up a hit and a BB.

Will be interesting to see who Rodney throws today. 

Team is now 19-8....2-3 in league play. We need to win today. Go Mean Green!

Game 3......down 1-0 in the bottom of the 3rd.

Savage has five walks in 2 innings of pitching. 

Their true freshman P is throwing a gem so far.

Down 6-0 in the bottom of the 4th inning. 

Skylar gives up 5 earned runs in 2 innings pitched. Relieved by Anderson.

We're not gonna win 30% of our conference games....if Skylar is our #1 pitcher.

I hate to say this, because I have been a Delong fan from day one, but this team doesn’t appear well coached. Running into third outs, errors on defense, base running mistakes, pitchers than seem to have regressed instead of improved and impatience at the plate are all problems this team has and all reflect on the coaching they are receiving. The big inning is killing us.

I think it's a real head scratcher.......that he'll put Conley and Bearpaw in the OF. Both are pretty slow. In that past, we've had three fleet outfielders out there.

And to keep going to the Savage well......she just doesn't have it. Maybe use her in relief....and see if any of the true freshmen pitchers have anything. And who knows what happened to Childers?

Looks like we started down 8-0 today. Yikes.

UTA and a home series with Memphis upcoming. Would be nice to have a perfect 4-0 week.
