I was thinking about this the other day and i think there are a couple of factors at play here, the primary one being that our basketball team doesn't sh*t the bed every season.
Additionally though, the current state of roster turnover in for G5 schools in football makes it really hard to follow players. Even if you have the same issue with b-ball, it's only 8 guys and we see them mostly twice a week.
Now let's go see these guys get some hardware.
I gave the reason why he stayed when Mac left, not a reason why he might stay if given a better opportunity. Things will likely be different when the next opportunity rolls around, whenever that might be.
It feels a little like some in the fanbase have some PTSD with Mac having left for a better gig and are fearful that Hodge will do the same even though Hodge hasn't done much in the post-season yet. I think he's at least a year or two away from getting looks, just like it took Mac six years to land a better job.
The settlement between the ACC, FSU and Clemson pushes the problem to 2030, when new TV deals for the Big Ten, Big 12 and College Football Playoff could mean enough money for buying an exit.
It also gives the ACC five years to show it can pay its top programs enough money to be worth staying. For FSU this means they need Mike Norvell 2023 not Mike Norvell 2024. Those guys are nothing alike.
what has UNT done to deserve his "loyalty"? a 1/3rd full arena, a Black, I mean Green-out promotion strung together 24 hours before tip and $500k less per year?
I'm still of the belief that he needs something of a post-season run this year for a P4 AD to feel confident enough to pluck him this year, but he is going to get plucked.
