Softball: Baylor Invitational, Waco, TX (2/28-3/2/2025)

Tough game. We got walked plenty but couldn't get hits. On to the next one.

Really a bad loss, forget about any decent rankings after this.  It going to take a lot of winning softball to wipe away the stench of this game.

I hate that we wasted the great pitching effort from Kayleigh Smith.

Softball, like baseball.....some days you run into a pitcher that has his/her stuff really working well. Today, we did.

Let's beat whoever we play next........

You can always count on a random Christian or directional school to keep you humble.

Tough loss and that's our first shut-out all year, but the next game will be the most important, and then the next one if we win.

Our next game is at 5:30. If Baylor beats SHSU, we will play CBU again. If Baylor loses, we will play Sam Houston State.

I wish you are right, but I highly doubt it. Cal Baptist is a bad team with a 8-11 record against mediocre competition. 

Winning the tournament could negate most of the effects of the loss, but getting one hit in the game and atrocious baserunning is going to be hard to ignore.

That is correct. Us losing a game made things more complicated. Baylor also had set start times even for the championship round. They are locked into the 1 or 4 seed and we are locked into the 2 seed. There will be a two-way tie with us and CBU if Baylor loses, or a three-way tie if Baylor wins and Baylor would get the tiebreaker because of run differential.

Baylor won 9-1 over SHSU. 

So I guess we are the #2 seed and play the #3 seed CBU again at 5:30.

Great we get another chance at them, and Baylor tomorrow if we both win this afternoon.

Against the tied teams, Baylor's score differential was +1, ours was 0, and CBU was -1.

For the tournament, Baylor's score differential is +9, CBU's is +3, ours is +2.

The math ain't mathin'.

So if everyone else is 2-1.....then SHSU has to be 0-3, right? But, if they win the next two games.....they'd be champs....?

Kind of an odd setup.....but it is what it is.

Correct, the games don't matter till now. Just don't understand how we're not playing CBU this evening.

I was told by family in the stands the tiebreaker used was runs allowed, which off the top of my head I believe was CBU 7, UNT 8, Baylor 10.

CBU advanced to the final by beating Sam Houston 2-1 in extra innings.

Scoreless through three. Our only base runners are two walks by Cierra and R. McNemar.

We have 0 runs and 1 hit in 10 innings today. Hopefully our bats will wake up.
