DENTON, Texas — The UNT women’s basketball team defeated Charlotte, 67-58, Wednesday night in its penultimate home game of the season.

Tommisha Lampkin recorded her 32nd career and fourth consecutive double-double with 16 points and 15 rebounds. Lampkin became the all-time rebound leader in North Texas history early in the second quarter, surpassing Madison Townley’s 875 rebounds as she now sits atop the leaderboard with 887 in her career.

Ereauna Hardaway scored 10 points and tied her career-high with eight assists on the night. Hardaway also went 6-6 from the free throw line, with four of those coming in the final minute of the contest.

“We were fortunate to walk away with the win,” head coach Jason Burton said. “We had multiple people step up for us — Chania Price down the stretch was big again and Ereauna [Hardaway’s] eight assists were key.”

North Texas (21-7, 13-3 AAC) held a 31-21 lead at the break.

In the fourth quarter the 49ers (9-18, 4-12 AAC) forced the Mean Green into four turnovers to bring their total on the night to 21, which included 20 steals that sparked a late comeback.

Charlotte cut the deficit to 59-58 with 1:25 remaining before the Mean Green pulled away with an 8-0 run, primarily at the free throw line.

UNT will face UAB Saturday, March 1 at 2 p.m. CT in its final home game of the season. The Mean Green will hold its Senior Day ceremony prior to tip-off beginning at 1:45 p.m. to honor Aniyah Johnson, Amaya Brannon and Jaaucklyn Moore.

Lampkin isn't a better rebounder than Townley, but that 5th year has made all the difference.  Townley could play defense and rebound, but she almost refused to shoot the ball.  Tomisha is one of the best ever at NT and deserves to have her number hanging in the rafters as soon as possible.

So who plays her position next year?

No idea.  She leaves a big hole to fill along with Johnson.  Johnson isn't as strong offensively, but she is solid on D and provides length inside.  We should have Tac, but she isn't the offensive force that Lampkin is.

Tac is very good.  I think she was like a top 25 player nationally coming out of GP.

Wrong Tac. I think they are related but the Adhel Tac you are talking about is a 6-5 redshirt freshman at South Carolina. Missed 1 or 2 years of HS because of injuries. I believe UNT's Tac is the sister of Acheil Tac from a few years ago (under Jalie Mitchell) Both attended Sachse HS in Garland.  Confusing.

Personal
Has one brother and five sisters who all played or currently play college basketball ... Oldest sister, Acheil, played at UNT from 2012-16 ... Agang Tac played under Jason Burton at Texas A&M-Commerce from 2017-21 before transferring to Texas Women's University ... Younger sister, Adhel, is a redshirt freshman at South Carolina.
