Watching this game and seeing the student turn out. Grant made the right decision. He had to beg our students to come to the Pit.

Agree! That, and a lot-o-moola.

So, you think it was just the money? That is part of it but the support of the program both financially and physically was just as big. He could have probably gotten more money somewhere else but his ties to TT and knowledge of the program were a big part of his decision. He can probably stay at Tech for the rest of his coaching career if he wants.

I think money had a lot to do with his decision.

If UNT had matched Tech's money offer, you think Grant would have stayed? I don't think so. He wanted to be at a power 4 school.

Lol.  It’s always about the 💰

If another school offers an extra $mil a year,  he’s gone.

It'd be about the money if he left for somewhere else (sans Baylor), but I think the chance to compete in a power league was as big a reason as the cash for leaving NT. Most coaches dream about competing at the highest level with full gyms.

Lubbock sucks, but their people love sports and supporting Tech. Denton does nothing like that and never will.

(Please note my use of upcoming sarcasm)

As a proud member of the statistical majority of incoming freshmen at Texas Tech University (over 80% of incoming freshman at Tech will not finish their 4 year degree)

i can personally attest do not discount the allure of the strip!!

Lubbock is a dry city, so you have to drive out to “The strip” to purchase alcohol. It literally looks like the opening scene from the series Vega$ with all the lights and neon.

Lubbock isn't a dry city anymore.

No sporting events to attend in Lubbock except Texas Tech athletics. Big difference between DFW and west Texas.

All we are saying is that it must be nice to have that support, that money, those opponents, etc…

Tech got into the club in the 90s. They made it. Long before their SWC leftovers. And Rice now feels what it’s like to be UNT and UTEP, programs left out by the other state schools. It is what it is.
