TAMPA, Florida – The UNT men’s basketball team makes its first ever trip to South Florida on Sunday as they face the Bulls for a matinee showdown against the reigning regular season league champions.

Sunday’s game at the Yuenling Center in Tampa, Florida, is scheduled to tip-off at 11 a.m. CT. It will be the Mean Green’s earliest tip of the regular season. The game will be broadcast on the Mean Green Sports Network, presented by Learfield and on ESPNU.

North Texas (19-6, 10-3) enters Sunday’s contest riding a three-game winning streak and has won four of its last five road games. The Mean Green beat Tulsa on Wednesday at the Super Pit, 63-44. Moulaye Sissoko scored a single game career high 27 points in the win over the Golden Hurricane.

UNT is in second place of the American Athletic Conference standings, one game back of first place with five games to go in the regular season.

Sunday, they travel to USF (13-14, 6-8) who is coming off a 20-point second half comeback victory at UTSA on Wednesday. It was the Bulls’ second-largest comeback in program history.

Last season North Texas and the Bulls met at the Super Pit. It was the first time ever the two teams played; USF won 60-55 as they went on to win the 2024 AAC regular season title with a 16-2 league record.

After Sunday’s game the Mean Green travel to Florida Atlantic to face the Owls on Thursday night.

This has probably been addressed before, but is it possible to get naming rights to the Super Pit? Yuenling Center in Tampa, Florida. Hmmm.

The Super Pit is a core University controlled building and not just an Athletic venue. I doubt any naming rights decision or revenue would go to Athletics.
