The Newell call was a make up of a terrible call against Reid (I think).  Also, there was an obvious foul against us as their player was falling out of bounds…sorry, but I can’t remember the players involved.  Calls missed both ways, as usual, but I never had the feeling they were getting home cooking.

Agreed they missed that, but they also got a lucky break because if that was not a foul he stepped out of bounds, but they got to keep possesion. If they wouldn't have fouled us intentionally we would not have made it into the bonus. They got 3 bad calls in their favor in the last 3 minutes when the game was close while they were in the bonus. 1 was a clear makeup call because of their coach complaining that even the announcers were talking about. Josell get's hit on the hand shooting and looks around at the refs and no call? How is that not home cooking?

Agree to disagree, but it’s all good.  FYI, when I asked “How?”, I was legitimately just asking.  You’ve answered and I can definitely respect your point of view, even if I don’t completely agree.  At the end of the day, we’re both celebrating a W.

Agreed, glad to get the W. I just hope these refs call things better for both teams, I would rather a fair game than getting calls because that could easily swing the other way.

It really is. Outside of having to do a complete roster rehaul, Ross' next most important job this off-season is to bring in an offensive mind to compliment his defensive mind.

Could this be remedied with one or two new guards that can break down defenders from the perimeter?

North Texas basketball is official.  That’s the first time I can ever remember us completely jobbing another team via the refs in any sport.

This team is gonna do special things.

That UTSA loss has to haunt the team.  Losing a close game at Memphis and at UAB is nothing to be ashamed about.

20-6 is a terrific record and I think we are all proud of that.  However, losing to UTSA at home really stings and badly hurt the NET.  Win that game and NT is 21-5 and 12-2 (same record as Memphis in both cases)

In the eyes of the selection committee, I don't know what's worse... Losing to UTSA or not winning one of our quad 1 games

Glad to get the W.  But why were we trying to outlet pass the basketball so much on defensive rebounds? We turned it over a lot trying to do such. Almost cost us.

Yes, I was almost screaming at this! It's not our game and we usually turn it over when we try it. Stick to what we do best, deliberate ball.

Probably the absense of a Quad 1 win, but both hurt.

Memphis has played an extra game and is now 22-5.

Since we lost to Memphis in our only regular season game, they own the tiebreaker.  We would need to be ahead of them in conference record to get the #1 seed.   So, regardless, we need to win the Conference Tourney to get into the NCAA Tourney.  Otherwise it's alternate Tourney time again for us.

That Charlotte game will be fun and Wichita State will be a war, but first the boys from Boca. This is getting more fun by the week!

Congratulations Mean Green and thank you for starting off my Sunday Funday with a smile.

I don't think being #1 in the conference alone will get us the bid, and we would have to win it, like you said. Also, I would rather be a 2 or 3 seed in the tourney because #1 plays in the day. Not sure why that is, but the evening game will be much better for the players I think.

The good: We keep meeting the moment, for the most part, and grinded out yet another win.

The bad: offense is just prone to dreadful moments, and with zero quad 1 wins, it just makes the pressure in FW amp up, just like it was in Frisco in CUSA.

This league has forever been a league to get 2 or more teams in the NCAA Tournament. Forever. And now we finally get in and have a good season and it’s like we are in the Southland, Sun Belt, or CUSA all over again. I guess this should be the motivation to see a huge MG contingent in FW to get us over the hump…surely, we can fill that place up for our guys with a berth on the line for a Big Dance ticket?

Well, three of the best brands left the conference when we came in. The new PAC footprint won't be much different than the current AAC if we can get a couple Texas schools to go with us. That new PAC is a 4-5 team tournament team. We really need to try getting into that conference before the AAC sinks lower.

We have a chance to elevate our Brand this season, at least in basketball, with more National media.  We won on ESPN-U yesterday.  Our next 3 games are all on evening ESPN-2 (Thu, Mon, Thu).

As for the PAC, more will be known about their situation when they get a confirmed media deal.  They have been working on it for 3 months already I read.  Other additions to the PAC from G5 won't produce additional added-value revenue per school a source said.  They are looking at 2 more football programs (all sports?) to make 9 in football.

You keep saying this stuff about knowing more about the PAC bla bla. The new pac will have the following teams with their current NET rankings:

Gonzaga #10

Utah State #33

Boise State #46

San Diego State #49

Colorado State #62

Oregon State #79

Washington State #107

Fresno State #280

You can deny all you want and cry about media deals until you run out of tears but that is a 4 bid conference which means half the teams would be getting in the tournament. Add in a #59 North Texas and almost every road game is a Quad 1 game, something we're severely lacking in the AAC.

Regarding playing on ESPN2, that's not a criteria set forth by the committee so I really don't care what channel we're on. Currently, many Mountain West games are broadcast for free on their phone app yet they're set for another 3-4 bids this year.

Oh... we scratch and claw to try and get into that league. If you can't see that you're 1) blind or 2) full retard.

Yeah I really don't get it. Here's the 2023 tournament credit value earned per conference:Screenshot_20250224_130844_Chrome.jpg.8c44b825a9ca46f152602650e28cb816.jpg

The MWC had four bids in 2023, three of those teams will be in the new PAC including SDSU. The WCC had two bids with Gonzaga being one who will be in the new PAC. Those bids are directly tied to money and how many games those teams play increases the amount of credits. The new PAC will probably earn $20 to $30 million in credits per tournament, all of which gets distributed back to the member schools and would be top 5 or 6 amongst all conferences. Even if the media contract is the same as the AAC, those tourney credits are very important.

Imagine them plucking St Mary's and SF for basketball only....then getting Memphis to bite and UNT being their travel partner...

I might stroke out if we could manage that...
