I was curious if any of our seniors had any eligibility left after this year.  It appears that out of Floyd, Wright, Jossell, Massie, Sissoko and Walker, that Walker, Wright, Jossell and Sissoko are in the fifth year while Floyd and Massie are in the fourth.  Is there any chance of Floyd and Massie returning for one more year?

As of right now:

Massie doesn't have another year of eligibility. He will have completed four seasons after this year. He doesn't get a COVID year because his first season was in 2021-22. The only way I can see him getting an additional year is if the NCAA allows all players to have five seasons (not just years) of eligibility. It's currently under consideration per Jon Rothstein.

Floyd should have another year of eligibility. He seemingly meets the waiver criteria the NCAA granted after the Diego Pavia injunction:

(1) played at a non-NCAA school for at least one year (two years at NCJAA)

(2) eligibility would exhaust at the conclusion of the 2024-25 year

(3) within the five year period of eligibility (next season will be his fifth year)

(4) progress toward degree (sure, why not?)

Of course given the constantly changing NCAA landscape the above could be obsolete by the beginning of next season.

I just hope in this recruiting session we can someone who is used to being the #1 guy, even if it's at the JUCO level. I love and support this team like any other UNT team, but our new additions were all second/third+ options at their last stop.

With more graduating players this year, including returners Walker and Sissoko, somehow this team is set to look even more different next season. Hopefully we can get our recruits like Mason to stay.

Doubt it if they are not seeing the court.   Don't know why they are not being recruited on their own team with some playing time?  It's too easy now for guys to just walk away.

well...don't fear...on the off-chance that Mason does transfer out this off-season, we already have an incoming freshman, DJ Thomas, signed, so you'll have another player that you can insist is better than a rotation player with absolutely no insight beyond a few garbage minutes

Sure, blame the fans, it's what you do best.

College sports now rarely allows for player development.   The players don't have the patience to wait, are offered bribes from other schools to leave, or simply seek more playing time and use the relaxed transfer rules with no restrictions.

Coaches that were used to having 2-3 seasons with young roster players don't anymore.  Some have left the profession because of it; they couldn't adapt.

Hodge has experience at yearly roster-building from his JUCO days where it was routine each season.   He has no fear of reloading or replacing players.  He wins, so no big deal.  But as a player, if you don't make the top 8 on his team to begin a season, it's bench time, unless an injury happens.  As a fan, don't expect to see them on the team next season.  Another piece to the reasons fans don't feel connected to the teams.

I still feel connected.  Not disputing your overall point, just want to clarify the above is not a 100% blanket statement like it comes off as.

I do as well, but much of that had to do with Walker and Sissoko coming back this year.  They were my connection while I got used to the new transfers.

Yes, that is what I was trying to express.   It takes a while to learn new players and their game.   Full roster turnover every season is not fostering fan adoptions.
