That North Texas fans were lying when they said “We’d come to games, but the teams aren’t winning”

Both the mens and womens basketball teams are 12-1 at home right now…and I’n pretty sure there were 105 people in the stands today

So I don't make it to many games, sadly. Just the way it's been with my schedule and living an hour and a half away. I can't make a 3 hour round trip back-to-back days while having to keep young kids happy. I joked with my wife yesterday that next season I'm getting season tickets and I'll just make the drive to games alone and leave her with the kids. She didn't find it funny.

What surprises me every time we go, and I again pointed it out to my wife yesterday, is how few students go to games. I don't remember student attendance being so poor when I attended UNT but maybe I'm not remembering well. Our student attendance, be it at men's or women's games, just sucks and I don't understand why.

No one is coming to UNT women's games unless they get all girl power and make a movement to get the feminine movement that exists on campus to come support them. But good luck with that. It reminds me of the 2 button sweating profusely meme. 

For the men's team... marketing was poor from the jump and never grew legs and the success wasn't taken advantage of.

The other day I scanned alot of game attendance numbers. Outside the power conferences and a few historical basketball powers, there doesn’t seem to be alot of attendance. For us and comparable teams, I think unless the winning consistently for a long time goes into the postseason, there’s a fairly low ceiling on it unfortunately. I’d have been at the women’s game today but for a medical emergency, that thankfully has been resolved. I really respect what they have done this year. I’d just not get worked up about attendance, unless there is solid evidence we’re underperforming on a relevant comparative basis.

Growing up students have been brain washed into thinking that only Longhorn and Aggie sports mattered.
