Softball: Trojan Classic, Troy, AL (2/7-9/2025)
Standings through Saturday's games, and each team's Sunday schedule: UNT: 3-1 (CMU) Troy: 2-1 (TSU, Samford) Samford: 1-1 (TSU, Troy) TSU: 1-2 (Samford, Troy) CMU: 1-3 (North Texas) All North Texas has to do is beat Central Michigan again to claim this tournament championship, as they hold the tiebreaker with Troy and Samford only has four total games. I think this could be a fun team to watch. I don't think we're going to be much of a home run threat, but we are succeeding with small ball. This young team has scored 24 runs in their first 4 games. Last year's squad only scored 4.2 runs per game.- 1

Tulane (2/8/25)
Per the student who was addressed, he hadn't gotten his keys out like the rest of the students yet. An opposing trainer asked where his was, and the student said he was pulling them out, worry about the f***ing game because your team sucks. 🤣 Apparently Ron overheard that and intervened. Then on his way to the locker room he stopped and cursed another fan out, despite no cursing from the fan. The fan/we just wanted him to get off the court, I'm surprised how much leniency the refs gave him with that all afternoon. The one time Hodge gets pissed at a call going into a timeout, the refs are quick to restrain him.- 1

Looked like a couple students hurt Tulane's feelings so they had security/police make them return to their seats or get kicked out. I too was on the opposite side but that's what it looked like happened.- 1

Bracketology- Bids by Conference
I don't particularly care about the name of the team. I care about NET rankings and specifically Quad 1 and 2 games. Road games against Minnesota and DePaul this year, even with them being bottom half conference teams, are currently Quad 2 games. Those teams, by virtue of their conference slate, are more likely to rise in the NET rankings with a few conference wins while schools from the conferences you listed are on thin ice once they get to conference play just like we are. To answer your question, I'm really not sure what will move the needle other than a win against a big name program in THE tourney or a deep big tourney run. The only real way to get an at-large is with a strong OOC. Otherwise it's auto-bid or bust. I thought I posted this earlier but my internet was unreliable at the Pit. -

What happened with the “Maniacs”? I was sitting on the opposite side of the arena.
